  1. I'll take death by nuke since I'd be wiped out immediately since I'm so close to Philly.

Jax has to be on the top of the list with Miami for destruction by flood.

If I had to rank areas I want to live off the top of my head it'd be like:

    PNW > Texas > New England > rest of "Southwest" > Mid-Atlantic > Deep South + Florida > Midwest

I recognize that that's oversimplified and actual cities would be way different

But yeah in terms of ACTUAL city size Jax is comparable to Indianapolis and less than half the size of a Minneapolis or a St Louis. So comparing it to other MAJOR major cities kinda isn’t fair haha. The only reason Jax isn’t a “small city” is because it has 3 navy bases.

    Hell yes we are

  7. Northeast is fine I guess. Very densely populated, people are dicks, fairly expensive, and nature is way less interesting than out west.

I enjoy the northeast a lot and would take northeast cold over midwest cold

Of sugar and ice I am made

I was there several years ago for my brother's wedding, and it's one of the oddest cities I've ever visited. I swear 80% of what I saw was pawn shops, storage lockers, and empty lots. I believe it's still the largest city by area in the contiguous United States?

I live in New York but I'd trade it all away to live in a fancy shmancy midwest metropolis

Jax is vulnerable to flooding. We’re just lucky that only like 5% of hurricanes that hit Florida actually hit us. There’s some scientific explanation behind the fact that Jax is at an indent in the coastline, it goes eastward when you go to south Fl or up the coast but Jax is tucked in. The currents create pressure patterns that deflect the paths of most hurricanes.

Only times Jax has been hit hard in my lifetime are 2017, 2004, & 1992

If I ever leave Ohio it’ll almost definitely be west or southwest. Somewhere like Arizona, New Mexico, or Colorado I’ve always thought be cool. But Ohio is familiar and most of my family is here so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I love the northeast. From my house I can drive an hour to get to the beach, 20 mins to Philly, 2 hours to D.C., hour to Baltimore, 2.5 hours to NYC, and I'm surrounded by some awesome hiking trails. I love it here.

Dude appreciate what you have haha. You're paying the second most for the second best nature in the country. Out west they pay the most for the best nature in the country. Northeast has all kinds of natural wonders.

Living in Jacksonville made me think i hated the southeast. Living in Charlotte made me realize I liked the southeast because of how aggressively Charlotte was trying to not be the southeast haha.

Jax is shit. Every midwest city except maybe Milwaukee is better.

All of New England is Amazing, Pennsylvania / Upstate New York are amazing, Chesapeake Bay & Potomac River are great, West Virginia is the closest thing (nature-wise) the east has to Colorado, etc

We worked at a Carrabba's in a very depressed part of the city and all they wanted to do was go to Miller's Ale House, do drugs at some 38 year old's house, and go to the same smoky pool bar

You barely even went to the beach / springs, came to one Jags game that we lost pitifully, never came with me to shows or any of the spots that are actually cool @CarpetElf

I'll be the first to say that downtown is really outdated haha. All the buildings look like (and are) from the 1970s. Every time they plan a development it flops. The city park is pathetic and the monorail is pathetic.

If you're coming here for "city life", hell yeah it sucks & lacks options haha. (I could say the same about Birmingham, trying to go out on a Saturday night with my girl was dumb.)

But I still like walking across that blue bridge and seeing literally dolphins in the water and 4 other bridges all different colors.
