This is such a "i want to believe what i'm saying is true" post. Coughlin is 8,000 years old. He should know saying "Every player should be here" is going to be interpreted as a direct shot against those who are not. Furthermore, if he truly gives a damn about players showing up to voluntary workouts, structure their contracts to incentivize it. Something like only ~300 players of the entire league have workout bonuses because no one cares about these voluntary workouts.

"Voluntary" unpaid workouts just another way the NFLPA failed the players. Such a stupid system

 

Oh just wanted to chime in real quick if I may. Jacksonville is a fucking redneck dump and if you choose that over anything (even Syria) you should be executed on the spot.

edit: Unless the people in charge of the professional sports franchise in Jacksonville want to give you 20M+ per year then you get a pass. I'd probably even consider long and hard about moving to Jacksonville for 20M (not a penny less).

What message does it send to our younger players if our actual front office / coaching staff doesn’t speak from that perspective though? That they’re just having these OTAs for the hell of it and not as an extra opportunity to compete & refine skills? It would defeat the entire purpose of OTAs if the coaches didn’t feel that, from a competition perspective, they are necessary even if not mandated.

This team needs much more discipline and they can’t get complacent. He’s right that, if they want to avoid another embarrassing season, they should all try to be there. And almost all our players were there so he was giving them credit.
