Big get? He's barely eclipsed 1,000 yards total over all 5 of his seasons.

 

I know right? Because people don't find more success in New England than they do anywhere else. I'm sure it'll be the exact same experience having Tom Brady and Blake Bortles as your QB.

 

Then why is he a big get if any TE would theoretically be good following this logic

Because he is an athletic, pass-catching Tight End that can become a weapon? Why is this weird lol. Their starting TE was Jacob Hollister before today.

 

I didn't say it would be the same experience exactly, but he hasn't done much of anything in 5 years, so I'm doubting it's a "big get" but closer to a "eh, he's okay" kind of thing.

 

I'm not questioning the signing at all I'm just questioning the logic to justify it haha

 

A big get at TE would be like grabbing Ertz.

 

Cuz any player going from QB X to Tom Brady is going to be with a better QB

 

lol that's so silly. Moves are only good and helpful to an organization if they end with a top 5 player at the position? ASJ was literally the only interesting free agent left so I'm glad they got him so they don't HAVE to take TE first.

 

I guess my bar for someone who is a "big get" is much higher than a 2nd or 3rd string level player that hasn't done much in half a decade.

 

I wouldn't classify it as a "big get" either but he definitely has the potential to have quite the career turnaround with Brady, and i'm going to hate it

 

I get your question now, and would like to respond to it better. I like the player more than the remaining options. I like the Athleticism and he has CRUSHED the Patriots in the past. With a QB who can take advantage of his talent, and Edelman, White and Michel occupying a lot of attention, i think he has a good opportunity to wildly outperform his small money one year deal.

 

I like that answer and now feel more informed on this player that sucked with the Jaguars so I couldn't fairly review him, thank you!

 

Yes. This is exactly what I meant to say. Big get or whatever isn't really the argument. There's potential here to help the offense, and if they still wind up with Irv Smith Jr. it takes pressure off him too to be the only tight end.
