    *insert Morphius meme*

What if I were to tell you that asking any QB who isnt like, Peyton Manning, to throw the ball on 70% of your plays is going to result in a lot of turnovers?

I wholeheartedly believe that every team should be throwing the ball more, especially on first downs. HOF-caliber in not, I’m all for teams trying to enhance their efficiency by taking advantage of defensive playcalling tendencies

Chiefs have three good WR's idk what you guys are talking about. We're only good because we're cheap right now.

Nothing you say will ever make me believe that Watkins is a good WR, but you guys still have Kelce, Hill, and Hardman and that’s a good trio to have on the field

I don't know, I think the whole argument is silly especially because facts show you don't need to pay out the ass for a RB to be successful.

But yeah, ultimately this is the right answer. Especially with the way rookie deals are; you get 5 years out of an elite RB (so years 21-25/6 or 22-26/7) or 4 years out of a mid-round pick and you just take a new guy every two years.

More teams should be looking for a James White/Tarik Cohen type player who forces a team to spy with a CB or S and makes it harder for them to play certain schemes

Watkins is more our RB anyway, dude can't run routes. But I'd rather the ball be in his hands than Tyreeks.

The Lions have had no run game for my entire life and it is not enjoyable

Wait why are we saying a WR2 is the 33rd best lol.

Probably not anymore the way the market has inflated, unless they’re 30+ years old

My thought is that if a WR is considered to be at a WR2 level then ostensibly they’re not better than any teams’ WR1. It was a shorthand way of describing their ceiling.

But apparently I’m a dumbass, so idk

Yep, I’m right there with you. Scheme, run blocking, individual performance, efficiency, play calling...a lot goes into it for a RB to successful. Some RBs are way more talented than others, but I don’t value talent at the RB position all that highly when we’ve seen no-name, late-round or undrafted RBs come in and produce at a high level

WR2 is just a position on the depth chart.

I know but when someone describes what a WR2 is, it’s someone who isn’t good enough to be a WR1.

This is all meaningless there are multiple ways to build a successful team lol

Alshon was the “WR1” for the Eagles and I bet there are plenty of “WR2s” around the league who were much better than him.

I apologize for my rude comment though. My post didn’t come out the way I had intended it in my mind and it definitely came across as harsh. I’m sorry about that. I hope we can still be cool, or at least as cool as we possibly can be as fans of division rivals

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

Lions non-existent run game has more to do with our O-line and scheming then it did with running backs. No back succeeds behind that piss-poor line

You shut your mouth, there is one way to build a successful team and it starts with drafting Carson Wentz over Dak Prescott!

All I know is that the Jets should be doing the exact opposite of what we've been doing, it can't be that hard

tbh there's about 20 guys who run the full route tree or a "WR1".

This is my point haha. Obviously an elite QB is the most common way to success, but I think power football is the best way to beat an elite team if you don’t have a top QB.

So I tend to think it has more of a role than most, and will continue to be important for “underdog” teams. Most people envision an NFL where power football is completely obsolete soon, but I think that counter narrative existing is important for the suspense and parity of the league. I love that teams with shitty QB can still just overwhelm their opponents and win ugly.

And I think that will continue, becuase you’re never gonna beat a good spread offense with a poor man’s spread offense. You gotta adapt sometimes and force those high octane passing teams out of their comfort zone if you know you can’t beat them at their own game.
