Perspective is a bitch lol cause 2 passing TDs in a game never feels like a lot.

 

It's just too easy to get into the HoF. Honestly out of all the QBs I've seen in my football lifetime (started making memories around 7 yrs old 1997) it would be Peyton and Tom. And that's it.

Should other players get represented in some form at the museum? Yeah but not a freaking bust and gold jacket.

 

Where's the argument that the Steelers D carried Ben in the super bowls??

They have practically the same exact career, 2 super bowls, stout defense for the majority of the time, and as pointed out, very similar stats. Yet, no one would ever dare try to make the case that Ben isn't a HOFer

 

That’s true - but if you’re gonna call it the HALL of FAME haha I don’t think it’s being too harsh to say Brady and Manning were the only guys from that era who deserve it (with Brees, Rodgers being next-up when they retire.) I don’t really feel strongly about any other QB from the early 2000s making it in (again unless you count Brees who didn’t “arrive” until after Manning and Brady were established elite QBs)

 

And that's where we entirely disagree because I think calling it the Hall Of Fame rather than the Hall Of Greats or whatever is exactly why a player like Eli should be in haha but that's a whole other argument I've absolutely had before and don't care to have again and if anyone tries to make me have it again I will block them

 

It’s weird that Ben and Eli have similar stats. It definitely feels like Ben had a lot more good years than Eli

Though I guess if you count all the games Ben played injured when he shouldn’t, and clearly wasn’t himself and had 4 turnovers, it balances out

It’s really really REALLY hard to be a top five QB during your tenure when there are four guys who are arguably top ten/fifteen all time quarterbacks. So it’s gotta be based on more than something like that. And two rings against the greatest dynasty of all time, especially when one was him dragging a team nearly by himself, is enough for me to think he should make it. Not first ballot, but after two or three years of eligibility.

Looking at ben’s stats career stats just out of curiosity. His sack rate early in his career absolutely out of control lol.

It’s relative to the era though. The reason why there are a lot of non top 10 all time guys in the HOF is because QBs have gotten better and better every decade. You can’t just go back and take Joe Namath out like “oh he threw way too many interceptions” cause that ignores the context. The fact that this era had multiple elite QBs is the context - and saying Eli wasn’t one of them, is correct and within that context.

If there’s FOUR GUYS who already deserve it by being top 15 all time, why do we need the.... 7th guy... to also make it in?

 

Okay not decimated but lacking your franchise QB and LT in addition to the several other injuries they had isnt exactly a set up for success

Besides the aforementioned QB and LT the only other noteworthy player they were missing was Jordan Hicks

Still 3 very important players. That’s beside the overarching point, but you can definitely say Foles 2018 playoffs are an example of that.

However Eli’s 2007 run was actually very good. They actually played the Pats in week 17 also and came within a field goal of denying the perfect season, 38-35. I remember watching the game as a teen with my Giants fan friend who lived in the neighborhood and us punching pillows in frustration lollll

 

If the HOF was up to me Mahomes and Marino would be the only QBs in it
