Yeah but he was considered the GOAT for a few years in the early 10s. Most still say he's the most talented QB they've seen

Not what I was saying with most of the QBs listed. Russel is not a lock currently. I'd say 5+ years of top 10 play would get him there.

 

For Flacco, it seems crazy to me. I don’t see him maintaining a 2.3 TD rate the rest of his career, especially considering he isn’t a starting QB level player anymore.

 

Eli is too popular not to get in. I definitely get the Rivers/Eli saltiness because if the names were reversed but everything else stayed the same, yeah, Rivers probably isnt cutting it.

 

Honestly I could see Eli getting in first ballot. Who else retired/retires this year that will be HOF-worthy? Keuchly? Maybe Suggs?

 

Don't worry rivers will probably throw 50 ints on the Bucs next season so it'll even out lol

 

Well yeah in current circumstances it IS crazy. I just think it was dumb to compare stats when there's a difference of 4+ seasons when most players don't make it past 3

 

Oh easily. 12 time all nba, one mvp, one finals mvp. Plus it’s easier to get in the basketball HOF. Not to mention international stuff

It's not hard to get into the football hof either, they just have a ton of dudes who deserve it getting assed out every year

I personally think the 2 Super Bowl rings is already enough “credit” for what Eli has done in his career, he doesn’t need to be exalted again with another accolade. He simply wasn’t THAT good haha

 

Player A -
60.3 completion %, 57,023 Yards, 366 Pass TD's, 4.5 Td %, 244 INT's on 8,119 attempts = 3% INT ratio, 84.1 rating in regular season, 87.4 rating in post season

Player B-
64.3 completion %, 56,545 yards, 363 Pass TD's, 5 TD %, 191 INT's on 7,230 attempts = 2.6% INT ratio, 94 rating in regular season, 86.5 rating in post season

Obviously Player A has much more INT's but on almost 1,000 more attempts, the percentage isn't far off, and no one disputes that Player B isn't a HOFer

Like do I want Eli to get in? Nah. Would he get into the HOF if I ran it? Nah. But he's getting in, he's a HOFer

2.2 passing TDs per game is a lot. Thats 35 over a full season

The Ravens and Saints were the only teams that hit that this year

Last year, 5 teams hit it. In 2017, only 1 team hit it.

 

Spending almost your entire career in the league at the same time as Tom Brady and Peyton Manning does make that difficult

I'm not saying that's an excuse, but it's something to think about as we start to evaluate QB picks in the future because I do think the HOF is gonna get much more QB heavy just like the league has

 

Let's see how fans react when they retroactively remove hundreds of players from the hof because a lot of people just really hate the Giants lol
