    Prestigious

They could extend themselves to stay longer if they pick a rookie qb and pitch it like he needs their continuity lol

is it possible to make an argument for Eli in the HoF without using the words Super Bowl or Peyton?

The Giants just got rid of shurmur after Daniel jones first year but generally this is a thing that can be pretty successful. It would be very bad for the lions as a franchise if they used a no.3 pick on a qb they don't think is even worth it just to keep that inept coaching staff on for an extra year or two.

Lions got a pretty awesome problem. They can take a QB at three, or roll with a competent QB they have locked up and leverage the dolphins/chargers/panthers/maybe more against each other

    I feel this as well:

Which is why I don't think he should get in. There's only a conversation because he was in NY for 15 years.

The argument just feels like "If you omit him doing the most important task and the major goal in football twice, once against the 18-0 Patriots, he's not a Hall Of Famer" like yeah of course that's the case

  14. Who here loves reading the FASB codification?

@Fucking Dustin I know you do

But what exactly did he do?

The defense took care of it in both cases. And yes I know Peyton got his second ring on the back of a defense as well. But at least he was considered top 2-3 for most of his career.

Eli accomplished some good things in his career but he’s not quite HOF in my opinion

Feel like that should only go to players who were at least top 5 in their position for several years. I don’t think Eli was EVER top 5

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

it’s all just smoke screen. They want to up the value and trade out of it. There is almost a 0% chance Stafford gets traded or they draft a QB at 3

    Nope. Supporter

Eli is absolutely a HOFer and yes it's because of the super bowls, but that's fine

Do HoF QBs get benched for Geno Smith or a draft pick many deemed was taken too high?

In the 11 Super Bowl he played very well and did so throughout both playoff runs as well, and I know the Tyree catch in 07 was a fluke but he also had to break out of multiple sack attempts to pull it off. And frankly, not losing a Super Bowl is impressive as hell too. It's SO easy to lose a Super Bowl, especially to the Patriots, in a game of inches. He's so obviously a Hall Of Famer and bias is the only reason to say otherwise, whether it be bias against Eli, the Giants, or QBs in general. (Which personally I'm in the 3rd group but we've already established it's a QB league at this point and I've accepted it now because it's a futile fight)

I too agree that HoF is just becoming "he was really good for a length of time"

I don't think a vote is needed every year. It should be saved for truly special players.
