Yeah like I fully think the Rams are dumb for how much they paid Gurley right when his health was up in the air. It’s a different story for Fournette who started OFF with injury issues but has a chance to prove that with better preventative care of his body, he can stay healthy. A lot of rookies are injury prone just because they don’t know all the tools to the trade that veterans use to stay on the field. I’d think favorably of extending a player who matured and cleaned up their injury issues by controlling what they can control.

His most recent solo album was Laura's AOTY a couple years ago I'm pretty sure, I need to listen to it

 

I dislike 50% of The Gaslight Anthem and love the other 50%

 

I’m just saying, almost every great back I grew up watching did play into their 30s. It’s not like it’s farfetched of me to doubt that, in a more finesse and less physical league, backs all of a sudden will never last that long anymore.

RBs have gotten killed with injuries lately but it doesn’t make sense to me that it’s not just bad luck considering earlier, rougher eras of football had veteran backs taking more carries, older, than today.

But times changed in the opposite way. By all observable logic, modern changes in the NFL have only made the league LESS demanding on runningbacks. So why does that translate to no one thinking a RB will be useful past age 26? We’ve had a couple bad breaks but imo in time it will average out and we’ll see some more Mark Ingrams still good at 30.

 

This could be a fun thing to look at and I don't think we have the data to support it YET but I think something's there, especially with how we've changed the passing game as a whole the the overabundance (and I mean OVERabundance) of screens options etc

At the same time RBs are involved in all those things too so it could be argued the change isn't as great as it looks

Greatly disagree. Running backs come into the NFL with more mileage on them because youth sports and the NCAA are awful. Then they're asked to run, block and catch far more than ever before.

 

You're missing Sink or Swim! I also prob like Get Hurt more than most should because of when it came out. But yeah, 59 Sound and American Slang are perfect albums.

 

Also, the people defending them are bigger/faster/stronger so every hit takes that much more of a toll.

 

Frankly, if you're a parent letting your kid play RB you're the worst. Put a baseball in their left hand and make them throw 10,000 fastballs a night.

Please do. It's rawer so you lose a little bit there, but there are so many god damn perfect moments on that album. 1930 is one of my all-time favorite songs. Idk if you know it, but there's a particular part of it that was one of the coolest live experiences I've ever had.
