I'm also not saying there is one way, just that one way has been working better than the other lately.

Yeah I was saying none of them get paid a lot so they don’t even apply to this discussion lol

They aren’t paid that much more than a veteran committee back would be. So it’s a moot point.

lol i'll happily say there's one way NOT to go. Idc if a team invests heavy in their offense or having a sick ass defense or having CBs up the wazoo. But RBs, nah. If a team wins a Super Bowl with a RB on their second contract making BANK i'll shut up. Until then, i'm gonna laugh everytime they're handed out.

    I mean 9.5 would be 5 years, $47.5 million

His contract was 5 years, $41.5 million which is 8.3 per year. Which is less than literally every veteran starter on the Jaguars makes

Only place I’m investing a lot on a running back is fantasy

I didn’t say that. I said I am saying both strategies can work. You are saying one of them is always dumb.

Lynch in 2014 was the 5th highest paid RB

And yes I’m arguing if you bring up examples that LITERALLY don’t apply and act like it supports your point as fact

They do apply though lol. McKinnon was signed as one of the top paid backs. Gordon wanted to be.

49ers RBs are paid more than Zeke and Pollard this year and they're in the Super Bowl so I do think there's more than 1 way to do things

But like Matt said (and this is why this is so fucking stupid oh my god) the highest chance of success goes to...NOT spending a bunch of money on 1 guy who's "really good but not generational" because you have to make up for your spending no matter what you do

So while it CAN be done and you CAN make it work conventional wisdom tells you there are other things that have a higher % chance

As an Eagles fan, I'm glad the Cowboys are going to shell out a ton of cash to Zeke

Salaries fluctuate year by year so that teams can adapt to their yearly salary cap needs. We should be looking at average - annual - value and how much was guaranteed. If he’s making 9.5 this year, this might be the most expensive year of his deal.

5 years / $41 million with half guaranteed is not that much money to give an offensive starter so I’m perplexed as to why this is being framed as a huge money issue. All of your linemen and starting receivers earn more than that on their extensions. RBBC teams still pay EACH of their veteran RBs at least $6-$7 mill per year, which would mean an RBBC Is actually more expensive than Freeman if you do it with more than one veteran. So how does Freeman apply to the “lead backs get paid too much” argument if he doesn’t even make “too much”
