49ers are literally disproving this right now. Mostert has been their workhorse for weeks, they’ve hardly been splitting his carries at all cause he’s pulled way ahead as the best back on their roster. They are definitely better with a lead back than with a RBBC, where you’re constantly taking away one back’s momentum to let another back who is less effective jump in.

The majority of good teams in the NFL have moved away from RBBC and back toward having a lead back so that would suggest RBBC is dying again as a trend, no? Especially considering even Shanahan has done so and he was one of the coaches who loves RBBC the most.

The point was investing heavily in RBs, going against what Daves argument has always been.

 

The top RBs in the league right now have just recently gotten extensions. How can you make this judgment call?

I’ve made the argument before that we only experienced a break in RBs getting paid because several RB classes in a row were shit. Now we have come full circle and very good ones are up for extension again. We can’t use the time period when like, Beanie Wells was a first round RB and compare that to now when a lot of former first round RB are really good.

 

The majority may have moved away from RBBC but the two teams in the super bowl didnt for the majority of the season

SF did move away from it because they realized they have a workhorse quality back.

KC is only RBBC because they don’t actually have any good lead backs this year. They weren’t RBBC when they had Hunt.

I think RBBC is the best call if you don’t HAVE a good runningback, but having a really good lead back and only splitting time when he gets tired is a more reliable course of action imo.

They were Mostert heavy in the NFCCG cuz Coleman got hurt but nah they havent pivoted from that despite the results of Mostert balling out

For real though that time period of the draft from the late 2000s to like 2014 was mostly shitty for RBs. This is the real reason why RBBC was a league wide trend for most of the 2010s. I don’t think RBBC is actually better now that half the league is back to having a good lead back.

 

Are you not an opponent of drafting a RB high and shelling out big contracts on them??
