I've been getting estimates to redo my upstairs bathrooms and have been disappointed in how much it will cost

 

It's a bathroom what could it cost 10 dollars

 

Just for labor it's coming in around 19-21k. I was hoping 15k for labor and maybe another 5 for fixtures.

Is this one of those things people pay out of pocket for or is that specifically why like HELOC loans exist?

 

I don't think I have enough equity to really take out a line of credit. I've only owned the house for three years. So this will be out of pocket or I could finance through someone if there are decent rates. I might pay half out of pocket and half finance. Gotta get one or two more estimates then pit them against each other.

 

Got ya. I'm thiking of doing something similar with my car. I'll have about 4.5k plus a trade in saved up but i may only pay 2k upfront and take out a loan for the rest. Gotta see what makes sense. I have until April to sort it out.

I don't think it's worth liquidating all of your cash to put a down payment on a car if you get a good interest rate. Rates are so low typically.

I buy and trade in cars too often because I work for a company that sells them, but I usually only use the trade in value and maybe put 1K down. Depends on where you want monthly payments to be.

 

Well, I'm getting set up with my bonus and tax returns at the same time so it'll be kinda do-able to put down a good amount of the price as a down payment. My concern is i have student loan payments and cancer payments so taking on another big monthly payment isn't ideal when i'm trying to get those two things down to zero and get to debt-free.

 

We're hiring someone but it's my friend who has a construction business i've known him for like 15 years and he was the best man at my wedding so we're getting a good deal lol
