Lol yeah I know but Telvin never happened ended up signing an extension right? His cap hit this year had to be minimal.

Edit: yeah his 2019 salary was less than $3mil

 

I’m starting to think Trevor Lawrence is the plan, but the roster isn’t bad enough to tank.

Actually he did sign an extension, remember he was 2014 class not 2016. The reason he only earned $3 million of his $12 mill cap hit - he only officially earned the pro rated part of his salary, which was paid to him before training camp. Probably part of the signing bonus.

However, for Jags salary cap purposes, that $9 mill in cap space goes onto our books in the 2020 league year, not 2019 - we have to actually recoup the money from an accounting perspective as money owed to us by a player that did not report. we don’t automatically withhold it.

There’s no way a team can do a rebuild around Cam given his age and injury history, especially his recent injury history. I think the Panthers should try to trade Cam for hopefully a high draft pick (if you can get a first, take it and run) and then sign a one-year bridge QB in FA that could keep you the team competitive but also keep them in the conversation for, at least, a top ten pick

 

Eh I doubt they can get a 1st for him so you may as well use him as your bridge QB.

 

I really don’t think the Panthers want to lose Luke and Cam at the same time. Talking about killing the vibe lol

 

I think it makes sense that you have to eat the cap when you try to spread a bonus or whatever out over multiple years and that player stops playing for you

 

I wouldn’t be surprised if we starting hearing a lot of Jalen Hurts Panthers chatter.

Cam can still be the 15th best QB in football to me. That’s all you need with CMac and their defense to at least contend for the playoffs

 

The defense wasn’t good this year and just got worse last night.

Do you guys think that Isaiah Simmons is a true LB? He’s certainly not and he wouldn’t be able to replace Luke Kuechly.

Simmons can either change the game or be a better version of Mark Barron.

It’s an absolute waste of his skillset to use him as a 4-3 LB. He’d give you the ability to stay out of nickel on passing downs but it’d be stupid to keep him in the box.

He has so much potential as an EDGE.
