    This.

I think the chances of a top-prospect Qb panning out are like 65/35 on a decent / average team but 30/70 on a terrible team.

If Bengals pass on Burrow and trade out of their pick for Foles I bet anything they're the London team

Maybe that's why the Jags want it to happen so badly

  3. Okay but if you are the Cleveland Browns you have taken five first round QBs since 2000 and missed on four of them with Baker HOPEFULLY being good and just having a tough year.

But the Rams finished that season middle of the pack. They originally picked 15th not 2nd. They were nowhere near the calamity that Cincy is in right now haha. Their team talent was closer to the current Jags than Bengals. Hence why they are an example I am using for trading up

That's a fair point to make, but what the front office and the coaches look like in those situations are absolutely important too

Is this assuming that like Brandon Weeden and Deshone Kizer and Johnny Manziel and others were considered the same kind of prospects as Joe Burrow though?

I do think there's a vast difference between ALL those prospects and who CIncy would be looking at.

Believing a record is actually indicative of how good, or bad, your team is why mediocre/bad teams stay mediocre/bad

    See, Dolphins

Browns are historically a great example but I at least thought they did a solid job setting up that team for Baker. I’m very disappointed things are unraveling for him this year.

Also, wasn't Kizer taken very late in the first round of the 2017 draft? Taking a QB there is far different than taking a QB at the top of the draft.

  11. Baker and Tim Couch were first overall picks the others were like in the 20 range in fairness

I mean but you don’t go 7-9 / 8-8 if you don’t have at least some “pieces”. That means you’re stable enough to at least manage games and beat bad teams.

A team like that should by all means try to trade up for a QB to put them over the edge cause they aren’t that far off.

He was 2nd round, I probably shouldn't have included him, forgot about that.

The Bengals aren’t though, they only got this bad recently. If anything the Jags were more like that haha we passed on a lot of chances to do better than Bortles / Gabbert

So now imo it makes sense to be aggressive at QB esp if neither Foles or Minshew finish this year as strong as strong as they started

Okay, but the Dolphins were a team that had some pieces but a middle of the road, at best, QB and they didn't go anywhere. Is trading out of a top end pick for more firsts and Nick Foles not similar to acquiring some pieces and a middle of the road QB? That's the issue here. If the Bengals want to continue living in perpetual 7-9, 8-8, 9-7 mode, then they should take your advice and go right ahead.

You explicitly were talking about teams that already passed on previous “opportunities to draft a QB” though, which directly calls the team’s record into question, not necessarily their talents

Just because Tennessee is stupid doesn't mean it's a good deal lol

It absolutely questions their talents as much if not more than their record, what do you mean? It's not as simple as record and never has been. I thought you watched film

I feel like we're talking about draft pick? Is that not the context? Draft pick is decided by record haha

like, the Bengals didn't pass on that many opportunities to replace Dalton cause they didn't draft early.

Them passing on that many opportunities is a major part of why they're drafting that early

But now the Bengals are going to draft early and you're sitting here telling us they should trade out of the pick?
