I've done both sides of that coin and there are pros and cons for either of them, so it's whatever.

 

I dropped out of college when I had 18 credits remaining, talk about disappointing your parents lol

 

I dropped out of high school halfway through my senior year

 

Yeah, I know quite a few people who didn’t finish high school and got their GED actually. And it’s always because of issues with their home life. They’re all super smart people.

But hey, now look at you, got a job that I’m still trying to get. Cause guess what it doesn’t cost student loans to drop out of high school lol. I put myself through the worst setback and I’m always guilty about it haha

My work has a tuition reimbursement program that extends all the way down to the call center, so it’s really great for people who are in that boat who want a degree so you can check the box (especially if you’re close) but don’t want to take out the loans.

Finding something like that could definitely be an option as a way to make money and not be in debt to get the skills/qualifications you need

 

6 credits from a master's degree for 5 years this May. One day I'll finish that

 

I graduated early the summer before my senior year because I only needed one more credit for English, so I took Comp 1 and 2 at a local community college. Got my diploma and small scholarship to any accredited school. Used that small amount for about a year or so of classes, but jumped straight into full time work and moved out. Sometimes I regret not using my senior year to skate by with easy classes and relaxing, but idk

 

Huh, yeah I always imagined tuition reimbursement only being for graduates (since a degree is often preferred by hiring companies) so that’s definitely interesting that they have some floor level employees who can reap those benefits while in school. Is that typical, or is your company more particularly giving incentives to young hires? Who do you work for if you don’t mind me asking?

Funny enough this was my first major at business school before I switched to IT

I was at the #8 business school in the country at the time too, Robert H Smith at University of Maryland. What a waste. Probably can’t get back in and even if I could that’s another 40k in loans to recoup the credits that I didn’t earn or that became obsolete haha

 

Educating yourself shouldn't put you in debt for the rest of your life. Broken system/country we got here.
