“Drafting the QB first is backwards”

There is no set order of doing things

You can draft the QB first or you can build the team up first

I’m betting on the Bears being the front runner for Foles because that team is likely just a QB away from making a legit playoff run, but I’m also betting on the Bucs as a sleeper landing spot for him. I don’t see him going anywhere else.

It should also be said that Cincinnati is not some crippled hopeless team devoid of talent like the Dolphins are. They've got two solid receivers, one fringe-elite veteran receiver, a usually great young RB, if they manage to pull Scherff and Conklin then they have four good to great offensive linemen. Like, what are they truly missing from that to where they need to wait on a QB? Not to mention their set at safety for the time being, Sam Hubbard is a very good end, and they've got decent enough linebackers at the moment. They would be absolutely stupid to pass on a franchise QB with the amount of young talent and cap space they have. Like, this is completely just fixing a narrative because you want it to work with your point but it absolutely 100 percent does not.

That team is a bad QB away from being good. They've got like, the 32nd best starting QB. Give them the 28th or something and they're probably fine haha.

But, in the discussed scenario, when you have the first or second overall pick, are you going to trade out of it for more picks and risk winning more games because of talent brought in, or are you just going to take your guy at QB? Sure, maybe the team only wins two or three more games, but there is a huge difference in having the first or second overall pick and having, say, the eighth or ninth or even tenth.

Their corners are hot garbage poured into a toilet, shaken up, and then placed inside of Jabba the Hutt's butthole. But Jessie Bates, Shawn Williams, Sam Hubbard, Germaine Pratt, and Preston Brown isn't the worst.

Yeah the Bengals defense, especially linebackers, are not good. They’ve got Geno Atkins who is still good but past his prime, they have some decent edge rushers (one older, one younger), they’ve got William Jackson at corner and Jessie Bates at safety, but otherwise not much. Even all of those players aren’t great, aside from Atkins.

If the Lions give up more than a 5th for a running back they’re ridiculous. A 5th for Drake, fine, who cares. But you aren’t going to make the playoffs this year, don’t pay more than that.

they’ll just sign Zach Zenner though

Oh yeah, I forgot about William Jackson and John Ross as well. That's a solid young group they've got. Saying they have no young talent is way off base. They aren't GOOD by any means but they've got some good pieces. Plus you've got a strong amount of money to throw around, even more if you cut Cordy Glenn. Get yourself, say, Scherff and Conklin on offense and then Shaq Thompson, Littleton, and Byron on defense? That's pretty good.

Running back does not matter when our line is this bad at run blocking.

I always assume that 99% of the fans criticizing teams and their front office decisions don’t know dick and that those FO people are paid millions for their football knowledge and acumen and we just don’t understand stuff.

Then sometimes a team does something inexplicably weird and bad that makes me wonder...

Was gonna do a Draft Network mock but interestingly enough they have Miami passing on a QB at #2

Also can’t forget getting Jonah Williams back from injury who was a huge get for them in the draft this year.
