Foles anticipation was on display on that throw. That was not a normal deep 9 route throw. He rainbow’d that pass like a punt cause he knew pressure was coming and he had to throw it early, but still give Chark time to get under it. He adjusted his angle despite throwing way sooner than he wanted to, released the ball perfectly despite his collarbone being broken on the hit, and the ball came down exactly where Chark was blanketed by a defender with not even 6 inches of room for error.

 

Like honestly if Minshew just really regresses I’m still not that worried about QB. Foles is baseline “good”. He ain’t “great” or anything but he processes info very quickly and usually is very accurate even when his timing is thrown off.

His deal actually is pretty team friendly for a starting QB

Most teams don’t have two first round picks to get Burrow so we’d be dumb to not try to do that and shed Foles’ contract, knowing we can fall back on Minshew.

Most teams DO have a day two pick they’d part ways with for a playoff-capable QB who is only getting $24M per year (when most QB his level are demanding at least 30)

 

I mean @CarpetElf isn't completely wrong about asking "but who", a lot of teams have franchise QBs or are in great position to draft franchise QBs

It's not necessarily that Foles isn't desirable, just that the pool of needy teams is dwindling down

The Bears are a great candidate. Trubisky sucks and is due a contract. They are 3-3 and might end up 8-8ish on defense alone. They need to upgrade at QB now but unless I missed something they still lack a first round pick because of the Mack trade. Why wouldn’t they pull the trigger on an option that, in modern cap standards, is cheap talent that has proven he can compete against other starting QBs?

 

They didn’t have 2 QBs. Brissett was never mentioned in the same breath as Andrew Luck except in the context of “thank goodness Brissett is there because Luck is hurt again” or “wouldn’t it be nice if someone gave us a 1st for Brissett?”

Okay, the Jags are trading a QB and going for Burreaux - why on earth would anyone be trading for Foles instead of Minshew
