Their defense has been playing really well, but you’ve convinced me with this post

  5. that’s certainly a fair take and hard to argue against. But implying McCaffrey isn’t valuable because Reggie Bonnafen had one good run is silly.

I don’t think that’s what he’s trying to say though. I think it was to point out that, when things are schemed well, RBs can succeed thanks to things like misdirection and OL play. But, in CMC’s favor, is Bonnafen gonna go out there and make a ridiculous bobbling catch for a first down to help cement the game like CMC did against the Texans? I don’t think so.

I think if you saw the run and you think that was entirely the scheme and not HORRENDOUS defense you'd think otherwise. The second that ball was snapped you could tell the defense was giving up a huge play

So if it was because of horrendous defense, then that hurts the CMC argument more, just so you know

He was juking the Jags out of their shoes on Sunday. It’s definitely not just scheme, I mean the 84 and 59 yard runs were total busts but CMC was killing us even when we didn’t blow a running assignment.

There was one play he ran *up the middle* and literally broke 3 Jags defenders’ ankles on the same play. He’s a fucking beast.

Yeah Wilson has to be clear number one. I could go back and forth for McCafferey or Mahomes for 2 or 3. For a running back just being in that conversation is insanely impressive

I am, in no way, arguing against how much of a beast he is. Thanks for reading

Carolina isn’t really playing great defense, are they? At an individual player, some of them are but they’re still allowing above average points per game. But their offense is still averaging over 25 points a game.

I was speaking more on an individual level: Burns, Bradberry, Jackson (when he was healthy), and Reid have all looked pretty good to me in Panthers games/glimpses/stats I’ve watched/looked at.

My apologies to you then. That was unnecessary of me.

  21. That tweet is just proof you can’t blindly trust PFF. That dude is implying McCaffrey is only worth one more win than his replacement. That’s stupid.

Like, I get that the analytics people (idk if PFF is even that at this point) see running backs differently, but McCaffrey is the entire offense. I don't even think they've tapped into his full potential since they don't line him up as a receiver that often. The Texans game wasn't one of his best from an efficiency standpoint and they still lose 10-9 without him.

PFF hates running backs. They essentially view them as worthless in the overall scheme of things. The majority of RB’s pros are due to the offensive line but the majority of RB’s cons are due to the running back themselves, according to them.

  24. The panthers OL looks better on paper because of McCaffrey. Not the other way around. PFF won’t agree.

PFF was actually very positive/optimistic about their OL heading into the season
