I just read a series of Bonercats deadspin articles and LMAO the way that team treated Jay Gruden on his way out is so cruel

One of the headlines summed it up really well: “Jay Gruden will get fired, but he has to finish eating this giant pile of shit first”

 

1) Snyder overruled his QB choice. That wasn’t a smokescreen. Gruden actually wanted to trade up for Jones, to prevent him from dirtin’ on them in NYG. And then they scapegoated / blamed him when Jones beat they ass while Haskins predictably came out looking raw in week 4, nevermimd that he was right lol.

2) They kept him on, after already deciding to fire him, just so he could lose miserably to the Patriots. Everyone in the world knew Washington does not have the roster to even put up a fight given their injuries. But instead of having that loss happen AFTER firing him, they made him do it so they could blame the loss on him and use it as a further excuse. Didn’t want to look bad when they’re trying to sell a “fresh start” to fans.

(Kudos to Gruden here for sticking it to Snyder though, and saying “fuck you, I will start Colt McCoy against the Patriots and use him as a martyr just to spite you before I start Dwayne Haskins”, that was nice.)

3) the team also, that week, leaked a video of Gruden being drunk and slobbishly flirting with some woman, that was a year old, trying to make it look recent... this directly reminds me of when they suggested former GM Scot McLoughan had a drinking problem (something most teams would keep private and personal if it was true)

4) they fucking had him come into the office at 5:00 AM the day after the game to fire him hahaha. What the fuck? That is so disrespectful LOL just fire him over the phone at that point

The front office is where the problems come from, and it’s a shame Snyder and Allen are both idiots who trust each other, and don’t know how to work with other people. Gruden isn’t good, but got damn I can’t imagine any good coach wants to go get chewed up and spit out by Washington’s sorry ass franchise... all the team’s issues are self inflicted from the top-down.
