It’s not a “blanket statistic” I mean how deep do you want to go? It was already a lot of work looking at the records of every team 3 QBs faced and counting their TDS and INTs in only those games. If you want to go look at where each defense was ranked, only pick out games against top 16 defenses, do all that shit for multiple comparable QBs to make this “blanket statistic” more specific then be my guest

But I feel like, looking at his performance against teams that are tougher to beat in general is already being kinda specific

 

And Jimmy G put up over 40 points against Sacksonville and Ramsey in their very good 2017 by passing the ball. Outliers happen.

Well, yea, unless he's threatening not to re-sign after next season. Then it's a whole different story but that doesn't sound like him at all so it should be chalked up to Snyder silliness.

@CarpetElf I will give credit where it’s due, bringing up that top defensive teams sometimes aren’t even the teams with winning records was a good point.

I just also think Dak should perform well in a shootout if he’s gonna earn that money hahaha... so to me, it doesn’t matter whether it was a good defense or not. I just wanna see him do enough on his own to beat other winning teams who put up a fight.

 

Damn, he and Minshew were really developing a good relationship on the field

 

Damn. I do expect Josh Oliver to take over as the TE later this season; but O Shag Hennessy is a hard working dude and an effective run blocker. He’ll be missed :(

 

Dak has done well in plenty of shootouts but the goalposts move after each one.

 

Thats not specific though because tougher to beat is the blanket statement. Tougher for a QB is different than tougher for the defense.

Yeah Oliver is supposedly going to be good to go for Week 6 so it’ll be interesting to see how he does.

Also, I'd love to have Dak Prescott on the Steelers instead of having to start Devlin Hodges next week.

 

I know. But again, I’m not looking at Dak’s W/L record in those games. I am looking at his TD / INT ratio. My angle doesn’t care if the defense lost them the game.

It cares about how Dak did against an opponent that, one way or another, was likely to make it harder on him. Whether that’s more pressure to score more points, or more pressure literally as in the defense is tough to beat, a team with a better record probably has at least one of those things. It’s not like neither of those things exist in games against competitive teams. It’s one or the other if not both.

 

Another quick point is that TD/INT ignores his rushing touchdowns and fumbles. I know he has over 20 additional touchdowns at least

 

This is definitely fair, yeah. Dak does run for plenty of TD in the red zone instead of passing.

Yeah, and I still plan on going back and reviewing a lot of the responses I missed but the main gist of my original complaint from that tweet is that the analysis is willingly ignoring important context, both a large chunk of his career (2016 and rushing stats) and not including how every other QB performed in the same exact scenario: remove their best year and run the numbers then see where Dak falls among everyone else.

Also, I still don’t think anyone is calling him elite or close to it. He’s about tenth in the league, imo

 

Show the FCS career passing yards leader some respect

 

I think if I factored in rushing touchdowns I might walk back what I’ve been saying a bit tbh. But that 18 INT mumber is still ugly. Just not as ugly when the TD number is more like 30-32 rather than 23 haha.

 

Sure, but he still has the fumbles but so does every other player so you’d have to add those in to your other posts too, hahaha

Lots of stuff to consider and that original tweet is just lazy “analysis” to get clicks and @ mentions

I just really want to build a giant stat spreadsheet that combines all this stuff into an easy to manipulate database or something
