Why not?

If you can consistently shut down one side of the field; it’s easier to flood the middle of the field with more defenders, and shut down a lot of quick dumpoff routes / seam routes as well.

This in turn generates a lot more coverage sacks because, without easy checkdowns and without the ability to throw to their go-to guy, most QB panic and hold the ball.

A lockdown CB on Ramsey’s level (that is, one that also plays the run very tough and is a strong tackler) is the single biggest boost you can add to a defense because it’s a ripple effect that makes covering the rest of the field easier on everyone else.

 

I just don’t think a shutdown corner is anywhere near as valuable to winning that you do. He’s amazing but it’s extremely doubtful he’ll be the best for a decade and even if he was, elite corners don’t translate to wins.

I think two first round picks are reserved to franchise QB’s and that’s it.

 

Put it like this, Patrick Peterson and Darrelle Revis split the previous decade and I honestly think Ramsey is a more complete player than both of them.

 

If Khalil Mack gets two early firsts, Ramsey is worth at least two mid firsts.

Mack is above Ramsey if I were to rank players by talent and their overall game regardless of position... but only by 2 or 3 spots. Ramsey is a top 15 player in the league if we’re speaking strictly skills, diversity, and talent.

There is not a single thing you could ask a corner to do that Ramsey isn’t excellent at doing.

QB >>>>> OT/C > Edge > CB

 

There are more CB’s than just those two who can claim being the best for a certain time frame. Sherman for example.

 

QB >>> EDGE > WR >> interior DL > CB > OT in my opinion.

Both OL and secondary are position groups where it’s better to have 0 bad players than it is to have 1 or 2 great players, while EDGE and WR are groups where one star is the difference between a bad unit and a good unit

Center is underrated in terms of offensive contribution but yeah I'm with Matt

 

No matter how great Tyron Smith or Zach Martin were individually last year, our pass-blocking was horrendously bad the majority of last season because Frederick was gone, even though Looney played decently as his backup.

Now that he’s back this season, they’ve been much better.

 

QB > OT > EDGE/CB > STUFF

 

I think Jalen Ramsey is = EDGE in value but most top corners aren't, if that makes sense
