I’m surprised BOB doesn’t try to utilize Fuller in the short passing game more. He’s a better route runner than given credit for. Idk how much separation he usually creates for himself, but I have to imagine with his speed and quickness that he’s good at separating.

I’m also surprised he doesn’t try to utilize his TEs more in the short passing game too, especially on third down. Maybe he does and someone can correct me on that. I imagine he probably keeps them in to block a lot with the status of the o-line and Watson’s tendency to hold onto the ball for a long time.

BoB is bad so it's not surprising he doesn't do things that make sense.

 

I agree with both things. Our short passing game is too weak for what assets we have until BOB decides end of game we need to dink and dunk up the field and by then it's too late.

 

He does use his tight ends for third downs regularly. They just have like 3 solid tight ends lol so they never stand out individually

As far as Fuller, while I agree that he could be a YAC threat underneath... short route running and deep route running are two very different styles. Just cause a dude is fast and elusive when he has a lot of space, doesn’t mean he has that same agility in tight quarters.

You want 3-cone agility for deep routes but you want 20 yard shuttle agility for short routes. And sometimes those longer legged dudes who take giant gazelle strides when they run, don’t have short-area change of direction the same way.

Not saying he CANT but it is a reason why he may not be as effective at that as he is a deep threat / Y receiver

 

Good lord, Saquon is a freak of nature. Shurmur isn’t ruling him out this week but he’ll probably return next Thursday against the Patriots.
