This whole thing is so stupid, and is honestly such a good example of how bad leadership sinks teams.

 

Honestly I just wish Ramsey would realize his pay day is coming but we legitimately can’t give him an offer that respects him yet. We literally do not have the cap space. We stand a better chance at being good long term if we lock up Yannick as well and he doesn’t have a fifth year option, his time is now. We’re only stalling Ramsey’s extension, because only first round picks have that luxury of a fifth year option, to wait out salary cap issues.

I do feel like the primary reason Ramsey is not considering the “keep the team together” aspect is because of how bad things got. Eventually you stop caring about keeping the team together and start caring about yourself when morale gets low enough.

This is why I think winning could reverse the narrative. If we get into the playoffs this year... not being able to be paid right away by a team because we’re trying to keep all our talent? Thats a very different story than not being able to be paid while your team gets worse and less fun to play for.

And again it’s not like he’s still making rookie money. His fifth year option is top 5 money for a CB. He still gets a big pay raise for 2020, like nearly triple what he’s earning now. I don’t see why he’d be so impatient I guess. This whole situation makes me pissed as fuck at Coughlin for even letting him doubt for a second he’s getting his money before 2021.

 

Literally the 5th year option is top 5 CB money and if he doesn’t play he doesn’t get paid. I don’t see the incentive to not just go out there and earn son

The 5th year option is a 1 year deal for top 5 CB where he probably wants a 5 year deal at top 1 CB money. Easy to understand why the 5th year option isn't exciting. And if he doesn't play for portions of this season, he's still getting that option or extension so fuck it lol

If we’re winning and my pay jumps from $6M to $14M for a season, while I still stand a good chance at getting $17M+ AAV for 5 years after that, I’m not worried about that $3M difference for that one year. Like, why is it Ramsey's responsibility to make sure Yannick gets his money first? Is it Yannick's responsibility to ask for less so there's money left for Ramsey? How come Nick Foles isn't offering to give his money back for Ramsey?

 

I can't imagine going to Jalen Ramsey and saying "hold please, Yannick's agent is on the line."

 

You act like Shad Khan didn’t JUST come out and say he loves Ramsey and wants to pay him that “more”. He said the words “record breaking deal.” So top 1 CB money.
