That’s not true at all. This is his year 4. His rookie deal is still in effect. He’s getting paid exactly what he’s supposed to get paid in year 4, even if they extended him right now his year 4 numbers wouldn’t change.

 

And his fifth year option may not be the contract he would get, but it’s still $14M which is high enough to make him a top 5 paid CB for 2020

 

Ramsey is not playing on that deal.

 

It’s not a “deal” it’s a fifth year option

Every first round pick has one

 

Also keep in mind that number is fully guaranteed

 

And hes not playing on it.

Gordon and Bell are completely different scenarios

correct me if I am wrong (looking at you @preppyak) but if Gordon did not play this year, his contract would have just tolled whereas Bell was not under contract since he didnt sign his tag

 

Well Ramsey’s situation is more like Gordon’s because he’s still under rookie deal and next year the 5th year option has already been signed

 

Correct. Its not like Bell. But its also not like Gordon because corners are valued way higher than RBs and the #1 corner is way better than maybe the #5 RB

 

The 5th year option isnt something Ramsey signs. Its a team option that the Jags choose to exercise or not. Ramsey was demanding a new contract then demanded a trade. The writing on the wall could not be clearer - he is not playing that 5th year option.

 

If no team offers us enough draft capital then he ain’t getting traded and this doesn’t matter.
