  1. But saying it was manufactured implies they never had any intention of doing so. And you don't know if that's true. They definitely at least took calls on it. Schefter wouldn't have reported any of that if he didn't think it was true. He likely won't be traded, the Jags want to compete this year and trading him would obviously make that harder. But that doesn't mean that trades talks didn't happened. It doesn't mean he wants to stay. It doesn't mean they're going to pay him. It doesn't mean he won't be traded in the offseason.

  2. Having a good season is going to keep all the people who he has beef with around longer. I'm with you that if they pay him then he'll likely take the money and stay. But it's clear to me he doesn't think they're going to pay him and that they're instead gonna try to get him to play under the tag.

It has been, and still remains, clear to me (not a Jags fan) that Ramsey wants out, despite the team beating the mediocre Titans and the hapless Broncos.

I think it’s just doing due diligence. When you get trade offers you at least listen and try to find a team that will wildly overpay. They didn’t like the offers and said fuck that. Even two first round picks is a bad offer for a top 10 talent in the league if you pick too low.

If the Jags don’t pay him then that’s their own damn fault but I really think people are wrong to assume this situation cant be reconciled, just because drama is more fun; and because other disgruntled players have gotten their way recently.

If you notice; that hasn’t worked out so well. Bell sat out a whole year of pay just to take basically the same offer from NYJ and lose games. The Brown saga shows that some players are taking it too far and shouldn’t just be appeased the second they have a bad attitude.

there’s obviously a ton of stuff behind the scenes we are not privy to see

  7. It can be reconciled if they pay him. I think that's clear and we both agree on that. But from what I've read/seen it doesn't appear Jalen thinks they're going to pay him what he wants or what he thinks another team would pay him. And his situation is a little different than Bell and Brown. For one, he's at a much more valuable position than Bell. And two, he's not acting as ridiculous as Brown did.

Just waiting for Ramsey to say Pay me Tom

  9. Like, it's been reported Jalen was hurt/offended by something said during a meeting with Coughlin. I highly doubt Coughlin said something that was personally offensive. It was most likely about his contract (because that's what this whole thing is about). Jalen has been told something that makes him believe they don't value him. Until that changes he is going to be asking for a trade. And if they don't trade him by next year I wouldn't expect to see him on the field next season.

I remember Brandon brooks leaving in free agency because he disliked O’Brien and no amount of money would keep him here

I’m not doubting he still wants out, but all the stuff that happened last week was not a ploy to try to get the Jags to trade him. He was legitimately sick (others players also were reported as having an illness later in the week), and his girlfriend did in fact have his baby and he could have stayed away longer if he wanted to. And as far as the back thing goes, he had already flown multiple times that week and I severely doubt he would have flown again to Denver without intention of playing if he was feeling good enough.

It’s just ridiculous that they’re spinning everything as tactic to get traded, he literally said he would play and help his teammates until he is no longer on the Jaguars.

It’s easier to have issues when you’re losing though. That’s all I’m saying. Ramsey’s morale reached a low point that I’m not sure he would’ve reached if we win that game against the Texans.

Right now he’s gonna double down on the trade request because I can imagine Ramsey wants to be seen as a man of his word who doesn’t back down / backpedal. The spotlight is on him rn so he likely won’t say anything publicly that makes him look soft or wishy washy. But I could see him privately, quietly changing his mind once the media loses interest after the trade deadline.

A winning Jags team doesn’t have players starting fights. It doesn’t have bad energy going around that makes everyone less invested. It wouldn’t give Coughlin any reason to talk shit. It wouldn’t give players a reason to be frustrated with Marrone.

A winning Jags team is some dogs on defense all feeding each other’s confidence and that’s what Ramsey wants, to be part of a group that believes they run the NFL. He wants football to be fun and competitive and he wants to be on a team that reflects his swagger. But we had lost 12 of the last 14 games and that tends to exacerbate any other issues that are going on when a player isn’t having fun with the game.

(But also fucking pay him what the fuck)

Winning does solve pretty much all problems though so I can see where @Randall Mentzos is coming from that if they have a positive season that can really help things

There is a part of me that is really over the whole Ramsey situation. I just want something legitimate or I don’t want anything at all. I heard the Eagles offered a first and a second for him and they denied, as they should because he’s worth more than that. I hope the Eagles keep trying, but I’ve begun to look around at other teams that aren’t doing well but have good corners, like the Cardinals and Patrick Peterson, the Broncos and Chris Harris, or evening the Bengals and William Jackson.

I’d bet anything that Coughlin told Ramsey his attitude isn’t helping and his tantrums aren’t professional. Probably said some shit like “you are not behaving like a player who earns a contract extension”. Maybe he again brought up the fact he trained at home instead of coming to optional off-season activities and tried to act like that hurt the team.

Ramsey suitably feels disrespected because he literally sets a standard that few other players on our roster live up to. So in his mind it’s the opposite - that by leading by example and by his performance, he has already earned the contract. And regardless whether he’s emotional or needs space sometimes to be with his family,
Coughlin has no right to disparage him when all he does is help the team, never miss a game, bust his ass and be consistent.

That kind of conflict can EASILY be solved by Dave Caldwell handing him a contract. That would completely nullify what Coughlin said.

  22. Steelers are in the business of trading draft picks these days so just give up everything for Ramsay

    And then go 5-11

I'm at the point where I'd rather look elsewhere for help, the Eagles can't afford to let this drag out.
