I am really interested to see how the Minshew/Foles situation plays out though. Only way I see Foles getting traded with that contract is if a contender loses their QB for the season and they don't believe in their backup, but that could be difficult to predict with the trade deadline looming closer.

If they don't/can't deal Foles, and if Minshew continues to play well, I imagine they'll keep Foles benched saying "He's not quite 100% yet" until Minshew takes a dump on the field, if he does.

It really is a shame and it must be incredible frustrating to watch. I thought Jack was going to get a flag for taunting at one point in the game when a Broncos player was flagged for something involving Jack. Then watching Robinson nearly getting into a fight with the Broncos at the end of the game when they are in field goal range for a game winning kick was just ridiculous. And then apparently he and Fournette needed to be separated on the sideline because Robinson was still heated up and couldn't handle Fournette trying to talk any sense into him? It's embarrassing and I'm sorry you have to watch shit like this seemingly every week. Hope you don't have to when you go to the game this weekend hah

 

BTW, this is genius by Foles' agent. Functionally guarantees he gets paid in year 3 because you cant cut him in 2020. It also makes the cost of cutting him in 2021 about the same as trading him in 2020; so it gives him stability.

You literally know more about how sports contracts work than any sports fan I’ve ever met haha

 

The worst part is I know like 5% of what there is to know. The way these teams handle cash flow is INSANITY; a $25mil signing bonus can be paid out in dozens of structures. And the ways they do deals to meet the minimum yearly spending and 4yr rolling averages is crazy too.

Im a little surprised we havent seen more deals like the Osweiler one; where a team with lots of cap space buys out guaranteed money...because it oddly worked out pretty great for both sides.

 

Yeah I mean that’s our starting left tackle and starting middle linebacker (a team captain who just got paid before Ramsey and Yannick, adding insult to injury... because right now I would rather cut Jack to keep the other two). He’s good but he can do more harm than anything if he’s out here getting ejected from games and drawing more attention from the refs due to his attitude.

Cam even more so needs to shut the fuck up. He hasn’t even been consistently good yet, he’s a great run blocker but a penalty magnet, and at times just stands still instead of using footwork when pass blocking a speed rusher.

Yeah, it is frustrating. I know even when I go to work and every other person is in a sour mood its hard to stay positive and motivated. So I have to imagine that Ramsey’s malcontentment is only amplified / validated when other players can’t keep their cool while they’re losing by 10 points. I want to see my Jags be positive and resilient and as many things as the Jags defense is CAPABLE of, it means nothing if they throw tantrums and get unfocused when the game goes south.

You have Calais Campbell in that locker room. Like what is the problem? All he does is say and do all the right things and work his ass off for teams that mostly lose lmao it’s a bummer that doesn’t seem to be rubbing off on everybody.

Downside of Foles deal is its too much signing bonus for it to be clean like Osweiler. Basically, Foles was slightly too good to get a functional 1yr deal, and his agent smartly protected him.

I do think there are probably 4-5 teams that would take him in a Flacco-style trade (like a 6th, maybe a 5th if JAX eats the 2021 bonus money or Foles waives it). Problem is, he might be competing with a Cam or a Dalton in that trade market

This seems the most likely. Redskins + Alex Smith would have also been one, but since they're probably in full rebuild mode and can save a FUCK TON of cap space by moving on from Williams/Norman/Reed/etc, they dont need to dump him that way.

 

I prefer Dak but they’re both great.
