SO guys when are the Jags gonna trade Nick Foles and use that money to give #20 the $20M per year he deserves

Straight up, that’s where I’m at. Foles was only a good signing because we were desperate at QB. Now I am starting to feel like we don’t need him, and I’m ready to ride with Minshew even if he regresses and struggles later on.

Let’s draft another QB to be his backup / compete with him in camp, and sign Ramsey / Yannick let’s fucking go. Foles $25M on the books now suddenly feels like it’s in the way of us retaining our best players.

teams negotiate who pays how much of which guarantees. I wouldn't be offloading Foles for a high pick because the goal is to clean up cap space... so the hard part is to find a trade partner with bad QBs that wouldn't mind paying him that money. If we can find that, shit I'd take a day 3 pick, whatever.

It's a long shot though with this strong QB class coming up i guess. I'm sure all the QB needy teams will opt to draft rather than trade or sign someone because theres several good draft options. Idk it was just a thought.

I know it’s only one game against a fellow winless team but man, it feels good to not have a 0 in the win column

  5. Rudolph looked good. I don't care if he makes a living dinking and dunking. It's very effective.

You want to hire Gase away from us if he doesn’t change his offensive gameplan when Darnold returns?

  7. Also, it was nice to see that the coaches actually put together a game plan. Jet sweeps, wildcat, attack the Bengals LBs, etc.

Now they'll try to use the exact same thing against Baltimore because heaven forbid they get creative two weeks in a row and Baltimore will crush them.

Still frustrated by the Saints game. Those two fumbles and Cooper’s OPI penalties really killed us. Zeke’s fumble was the wrong call, imo. There’s no way to know if we could have won if they called it correctly but I wish it was. The OPI’s were kind of ticky-tacky but I understand why they were called.

We need Gallup back because with him gone and Cooper playing hurt, we only had Cobb and Witten as safety valve players, especially when Zeke and our line were getting dominated.

    Defense looked elite though.

  12. Mason Rudolph went 24/28 and didn’t impress me at all haha

  13. I don't think he will ever be that impressive, but if he can be trusted to manage the game right now, that's fine. Exactly what Ben did in the beginning of his career. Rudolph is not as talented as Ben, so the coaches need to put him in a position to succeed. Ben could just figure it out and make it work - we don't know if Rudolph will ever have that ability.

This. In Ben's first season (NYG game aside), his maxes were 25 attempts and 231yds. Had several games of <20 attempts and <200yds. The model was basically a half dozen throws to Ward on 3rd down and the occasional deep shot to Plaxico or Randle El.

You still eat that in 2020, basically. ~$20mil is cap acceleration of his signing bonus. Absolute best case scenario, someone takes on Foles' entire salary and you save about $3mil on the cap. Which is what you'd pay for a 2020 rookie QB anyway, so best case scenario you break even.

Sure, it helps in 2021 and beyond, but this also presumes a team wants Foles for $15mil/yr coming off an injury year.

Minshew’s completion percentage right now is LITERALLY 69.420% hahahahaha

Bench him. He can never throw another pass.

So you’re saying that accelerated cap in a sense is already on our books and can’t be transferred to a team we trade with?

Either way, waking up sober... I realize how unfeasible this whole scenario is anyway cause Foles didn’t get the chance to show what he can do outside Philly, so you’re right. No team is gonna actively want that contract enough to trade for it.

Yeah that’s how the cap works. It was an unfortunate contract when you guys signed it, I’m not shocked it might hurt you long term.

But damn man, I even really like Nick Foles, yet I’ll be really put off by our staff / front office if they sit Minshew when Foles comes back because of $$$. Right now Minshew is doing very rare things for a rookie, and his supporting cast is average, so it’s not even like he has a ton of help. Not riding that wave and letting him continue that momentum to reach his potential would be a huge mistake.

Bears and Vikings should both call for Foles. That game on Sunday was pathetic
