I hate when online companies send you a shipping notice, but it's still in 'pre-shipment' and USPS hasn't event gotten it yet.

Grantland and hiring Shea Serrano are the two biggest Simmons legacies I don’t care about him beyond that

    Edit: Also Zach Lowe

Didn’t he have a hand in developing 30 for 30?

Also Wesley Morris, Rembert Browne, and Kam Collins are brilliant writers though I can’t recall off the top of my head how prominent they were pre-Grantland. But Morris and Collins are so good it’s worth listening to Simmons’ truly terrible ability to talk about movies whenever they do a podcast together

My good luck lately is just as foreign of a feeling to me as it is to anyone else lol. As I said in that post I haven’t ever been successful dating until I turned 29.

I just think Atlanta is a great place for single people haha. Matt has received some attention / interest lately too!

Lately he has been turning in some real boomer takes but my love for him is too strong, I just cringe and move on.

  10. If I wasn't married I'd be single forever because the thought of dating seems miserable but I'm also fairly introverted.

If they don't like terrain is it a deal breaker?

Even that probably understates it; 30 for 30 was his brainchild and he and an ESPN exec basically pulled off the whole thing. In a way, Simmons shouldnt be writing anymore, his abilities as an ideas man for things like Grantland or 30 for 30 show he's wasting his time writing 75 million word articles.

While we were coming up with ideas, we made a list of respected filmmakers and celebrities who also happened to be sports fans....

...We hoped to land a few respected names early for a “domino effect” of sort and only needed two or three names. Everyone else would get a sniff and want to be involved. That’s what we thought. We all started going out on meet and greets, and that’s when something crazy happened, something we never anticipated: these people had been waiting for us. They had stories to tell. They just never thought they’d have a chance to tell them. Tollin broke into Hollywood by working in the USFL and happened to be sitting on three years of rare USFL footage. Yes, he wanted to direct a film. The great Albert Maysels followed Muhammad Ali around before the Holmes fight, filmed two months worth of incredible footage, even cut a 30-minute documentary about it… only nobody wanted to purchase it because the fight itself had been so depressing. The film had been sitting in a warehouse for 27 years gathering dust. Yes, he wanted to be involved.

To our eternal amazement, the dominos started falling. Ice Cube is a life long Raiders fan. Peter Berg’s obsession with Wayne Gretzky is real. Ron Shelton brings an unequaled passion to Minor League baseball. We found out that Steve Nash grew up idolizing the late Terry Fox, that Barry Levinson never really recovered from the Colts leaving Baltimore, that Steve James grew up in Virginia and remains haunted by the racism there, specifically, how Allen Iverson’s trial was handled. They all jumped aboard.

That’s what I thought. Not that he even writes anymore, I think podcasts and overseeing the Ringer are all he really does

It’s not a deal breaker for me but it probably is for them lmao. Me practicing often would get annoying in that case.

Dating isn’t bad. Just expect nothing to happen and go with it calmly haha. As long as you’re honest with yourself that most dates are just gonna be “average”, and you’re not gonna have that spark or know what joke to make or what charming thing to say, it’s really no big deal.

Things only get awkward and embarrassing when you try too hard to force it anyway. As long as you don’t do that and you let things be natural, the worst that happens is you have a nice dinner with somebody.

If it feels difficult to talk to someone / laugh with them, or read how they’re feeling, that just means the chemistry isn’t there. And at that point I just try to have a fun night and move on. Usually that’s what happens, so don’t get the idea that just because I’m dating means anything lol.... mostly I just end up making female friends

Simmons was actually doing something funny on his pod last friday where he would bring up QBs and talk about if they would be able to get away with murder or not and how they would do it. I can't remember the details but I remember him saying Aaron Rodgers would be the perfect murderer and never get caught and Big Ben would be extremely sloppy and leave evidence all over the place lmao, it was some shit like that. It's fun to do with all the QBs playing right now.

Aaron Rodgers looks like his soul has left his eyes and I think he might've already murdered someone

Brees would murder someone in the middle of the day and everyone would pretend like they didn't see it

It’s really not as long as you’re fine with the fact that only a small percentage of dates actually work out hahaha.

If you don’t reach a point of “acceptance” with that fact then yeah it’s easy to get discouraged, and start trying too hard to impress people after a few unsuccessful dates. But nowadays I literally go into dates thinking “she’s probably just gonna see me as a friend” and generally they go alright haha. I leave myself room to be pleasantly surprised but overall the goal is literally just to have a fun night & get to know someone.

Dating is only “bad” because we build up too many expectations and feel pressured to go about it / behave a certain way on dates. I’m 29 though and I no longer have time for that shit. What you see is what you get lol, I’m not gonna try to call a club a spade if me and that person just ain’t hitting it off like that.

  24. Talking to new people isn't fun then I have to pretend to care about what they say and that takes a lot of energy
