I’ve been there. I know it’s beautiful. I’m strictly responding to KJ saying “nuke the entire south imo” when he said he wouldn’t be caught dead in ATL because of the shitty politics / culture here lol

But that’s not just KJ tbh I just like to get competitive with him. @xkj1985x take it with a grain of salt haha

Really a lot of people assume the south has no redeeming qualities cause of all the racist rednecks & politicians... when that’s also a thing up north it’s just hidden / presented differently.

I get defensive because the south is ALSO full of people pushing for change... and to say fuck ‘em because of the racism... completely ignores the huge POC concentration in cities down here fighting & voting as activists against it.

More POC live down here than in any other region of the country, so it’s important to recognize that this is where the political battlefield is if we want to turn this country around.

We could talk about overzealous religion but isn’t that big in Idaho too?

I assume the south has no redeeming qualities, but it's mostly because college football bores me, the heat enrages me, and Florida concerns me.

I mean yeah fuck the heat but people are generally welcoming and easy to talk to which is not true of the northeast lol. Also as much as the heat sucks, it still means the rest of the year is very moderate... Ill go outside for 11 months out of the year and enjoy it here. I’ll still go ride my bike or work outside when it’s 95 degrees. You will never catch me doing either when it’s below 40 though.

I like cities in the south cause they’re cheap enough for me to enjoy an urban experience.

We still got mountains and fall colors in Atlanta so I’ll be getting my fix of what I miss up north.

There's just so much when it comes to the relationship between racism and the south and why things can feel so different here than in other places and recognizing that a lot of it is due to how many POCs are being oppressed here and the makeup of the more "progressive" places

But that's like a whole other giant thing

I mean yeah, for example if there were as many black people in Portland as there are in Atlanta people would realize that city / state is not as forward thinking as they assume.

There are hardly POC dominant neighborhoods anymore in Portland cause they’ve all been gentrified and outpriced - which is the opposite of the east coast where they just defund those neighborhoods and let them deteriorate. But it’s really just a more clandestine way of displacing POC and moving them out of the “nice areas”. Yet, it’s easy to overlook the problem / to assume those issues aren’t prevalent, when you don’t live in a city that has obvious slums. When it’s not right in front of your face but actually hidden behind real estate and selective accessibility.

That’s the problem when you have a bunch of white liberals living in an echo chamber, all they have is each other for a frame of reference and don’t actually know much first-hand about what black communities are struggling with. They just vote for Bernie and take their one or two POC friends out to dinner and call it a day while ICE and KKK are gaining traction right across the mountains.

It’s easier for things like white nationalism to sprout up and cloak themselves in political correctness / freedom of speech, like a wolf in sheeps clothing because they can hide in plain sight among other white people they have no intent to antagonize. Here, you best believe if neo Nazis assemble, the black community and urban allies, who are well in touch with the racial tensions down here, would call them out immediately and come out in droves to shut them down.

Jags should really be up there especially since we no longer have Telvin Smith nor Tashaun Gipson, a more zone-based coverage isn’t even as effective as it used to be.

Jalen Ramsey is not wrong that we are not putting our team in the best position to succeed. We are not a team that needs to play much Cover 0, our pass rush is strong enough with 4-5 guys rushing... but I’d like to see a lot more Cover 1 than Cover 3 for example.

We lost the ability to play quality cover 2 and cover 3 when we lost our pro bowl level free safety and WILL linebacker.

I will say I like Cover 2 against heavy running teams because it keeps players eyes in the backfield and it keeps Ramsey at the LOS, which is where he can show off his “enforcer” box-safety-like run defense skills and power. And I bet he likes occasionally laying a dude out / blowing up blocking TE and fullbacks when it’s clear the opponent isn’t gonna pass downfield.

What he doesn’t like is being stuck on one sideline on 3rd & 12 against the fucking Chiefs or some other pass heavy team... while the other team’s WR1 crosses the field, and gashes our linebackers for 25 yards.

Ramsey wants our coaches to let him get in their face and shut that play down in those key situations... but Wash / Marrone have gotten so soft about that since they got called for PI three times in the third quarter in the 2017 AFCCG. We call defense with much less conviction and aggressiveness now than we did during our playoff run.

I mean. Josh Allen, Calais Campbell, and Yannick Ngakoue together is like calling cover 0 haha. One of those dudes is getting in the backfield FAST on every play. We literally do not need to blitz it’s probably better for us to make sure the whole field is covered so the QB has no quick checkdown options

    Hahahah true.

I just think off-man coverage is only good if both your DL and your DBs are elite. Too easy to throw guys open if there’s not enough pass rush... and it’s too easy to throw directly TO guys right after they make their cut if the DBs aren’t good enough

The Broncos played amazing off man coverage the year they won the super bowl. That’s an example of a team having everything they need to execute that coverage style.

A good off-man defense will get a lot of INTs so I understand the appeal of it.

Longhorns have limited pass rush so they can't really do much defensively across the board

It's like the inside of their defense (interior DL, MLB, Safeties) is really good and then the outside (pass rushers and edge guys, corners) is terrible
