Yeah man I mean I guess I just have a different perspective than other members of this thread. I just think we’re not giving enough credit to how much more pressure and how difficult it is to win a Super Bowl when your front office didn’t build you a complete team. SB wins aren’t the end all be all, strictly because there are several elite quarterbacks who did it 1 or 0 times, and they deserve credit for being at the top of their profession too.

In the 90s you’ve also got Brett Favre, Steve Young, Dan Marino, Troy Aikman, Jim Kelly, Warren Moon, Randall Cunningham, Steve McNair, Mark Brunell, Doug Williams.... like I am sorry. Elway got so much credit because the Broncos were a complete team that did it all. But I refuse to give him automatically way more credit as an individual performer; than literally 10 other QBs that were as good or better. By the stats he was hardly even top 10. I think he’s a great example of “not the best” QB getting the “best” accolades because football is a very team oriented sport.

 

Yeah I'm definitely with you. And I still think he deserves the Hall of course (lots say otherwise!) but yeah

 

There was a period where Joe Buck was boring but that was 5-10 years ago or so. He’s been awesome for a while. And he makes biting criticism and jokes a lot and it’s hilarious.

 

joe Buck has one of my favorite calls in sports history. I love the way he reacts to Edelman's catch in the Falcons Super Bowl.

 

Can't help but notice you included Mark Brunell. Bold Randall. Certainly bold.

 

I'm not sure when exactly it happened but Buck has been the best TV announcer for a few years IMO

Michaels dropped off and Nantz is extremely neutral

 

Yup, "DIGGS SIDELINE TOUCHDOWN" is a long way from "Mitchell...Mitchell...Mitchell..."

 

It’s really not bold. Brunell was unquestionably one of the “very good” QBs of the 90s. He’d be average today but he was top 10 back then and that’s not even debatable

I said him toward the end of the list to be fair, he’s def not up there with the guys I said first

 

Drew Bledsoe vs. Mark Brunell. My childhood vs. yours. Let's do the damn thing.

I remember Vinny Testaverde as the guy in my first Madden game that I saw and was like “holy shit this guy is 40 lol”

 

I feel bad for Bledsoe. It must be tough having "he almost died one night" as the most memorable part of what was actually a very-good-to-near-great career.

 

People still hold Buck’s monotone call of the Tyree catch against him but he’s been better since 2013 or so. I always thought Nantz/Simms were everything people criticize Buck to be.

 

Nantz isn’t bad but Phil Simms... woof. I can’t stand his color commentary lol

I used to dislike Chris Collinsworth too but he’s become more objective and less of a buffoon with experience

 

Cris Collinsworth runs hot and cold, he has some games where he's on and some games where he's horrible

If Minshew keeps playing like this for another 5-6 weeks, the Jaguars are his team and that’s my quarterback

 

Nantz has gotten much better since Romo joined him. Sounds like he’s having fun with it now.

I’m tired of the formality, football is a raucous, loud, messy sport. I want to hear a dude get stoked about big plays and get nerdy about the strategic things he sees

 

I definitely agree with @MyBestFiend that Nantz is just very neutral and kinda feeds off of what's around him. Hence him being bad with Simms and good with Romo.

 

He is I'm just constantly worried about him losing his voice hahahaha

 

Like that's my only flaw with Romo, that I'm continuously scared for him

 

Hahaha well keep in mind he used to be ON the field shouting even harder for that long lol

People have told me that before as well because of how I sing / how much I can project my voice in crowded rooms, but I’ve legit never lost my voice before

 

So did Troy Aikman! And he still talks with a volume of 2.
