One of those things that you can only say if you dominate hahaha

 

Say what you want about the Cowboys (or when it’s another team for different seasons) beating up on lowly competition but what’s scary is that in a way it’s basically a warm up for them to work any kinks out of their offense (and defense) and if they’re already firing on almost every cylinder then they should, theoretically, be firing positively for most of the season.

First three weeks for the Cowboys have basically been a preseason in which all the starters play and that can only be viewed as a positive (when they’ve played and won the way they have). By the time they get to good teams on their schedule, they should be a well-oiled machine (perfect world scenario for any such team but obviously “that’s why they play the game” because shit happens)

Didn’t get to watch much of the game, but I’ve seen plenty of people up in arms about the Ravens loss and saying Harbaugh should be fired (which lol) and I thought this was a good, interesting read, even though the headline and closing paragraph are a little disingenuous to other analytically driven teams out there

I think the Eagles beat the Packers next week. Coaching and a desperate team playing in a short week will be the difference.

So, Ill say the interpretation of the onside kick is still garbage. Yes, do something that guarantees a 2:01 clock, but that drop kick is 100% not it. You have the best pure place kicker in the game...down 5 points needing a touchdown, the analytic play is NOT to give the opponent the ball at the 36 instead of the 25. Tucker cleans 70yd FGs for fun. Have him put the ball out of the back of the end zone or if you dont care about field position, have him launch the ball OOB at the 20yd line. Also, Tucker missed the first attempt; if he had muffed that, you lose the 2 minute warning and suddenly being down 5pts becomes a death sentence that a 3pt deficit would not have been (again, because Tucker can hit 65yd FGs). They'd have turned a couple of decisions that add maybe 1% to their win probability into a stack that takes 10+% off their chances.

I mostly buy the theory on the 2pt conversions though, and the going for it on 4th inside the opponents red zone is definitely something all teams should be doing.

 

Also fuck the colts for accepting that penalty when Neal got hurt - zero class organization
