I agree with that entirely.

Call holds as often as they happen, but reduce the penalty to 5 yards so it's not completely absurd.

 

You mean have the offensive penalty match the defensive penalty? That'd be unreal.

Right. If you think it's a cash grab, say it, own it. If you don't care one way or another, say it, own it. But hedging your bets and trying to reap the rewards is lame.

Not even sizzling. I agree with this fully too. 10 yards is just rough. Though at least it’s “from the spot of the foul”. It’s not like holding at the end of an 80 yard run negates the whole run.

 

I mean not really when you look at the socioeconomic landscape of players before they make it to the pros. Gang influence is heavy in a lot of those neighborhoods where football is the only after school support program some kids have.

This is not to make excuses for Aaron Hernandez but if you grow up around a lot of crime that shit can be pervasive, especially when you see people get caught up in it only because they’re scared & desperate. When your childhood neighborhood was chaotic, It’s hard to just suddenly look at life with more structure now that you have money.
