NFL season is my favorite time of the year and thankfully I can still enjoy it even if we’re terrible. I just love the sport and analytics and spectacle of it.

 

I can deal with rooting for a bad team but at least let me have my favorite players, man.

 

Somewhat related, but I was subscribed to, like, 8-10 different football podcasts this summer and I recently just had to cut that number down in half because I was just not making enough time for other loves in my life like music and drums. I had to take a step back and say “Okay, this is way too much and you are spending little to no time every week on anything else in your free time.”

So are more teams going to try to extend players earlier now or?

 

I mean...they should.

 

The earlier you start paying people who deserve it, the less risk you have of paying them when they no longer do.

I.e. paying someone big 24-29 is preferable to paying someone 27-32.

 

God I'm working so hard on it and I don't think I'm doing well. But I absolutely need to get rid of the importance of sports and how depressed I can get over it.

I wrote myself a new job description and presented to my boss two weeks ago. Yesterday we had a meeting, and it should be happening sooner than later, so that's super awesome.

 

Depending on how we lose it can affect my psyche. If it was a good game and we lose, okay. If we’re terrible, I’m bummed but still okay. If it’s a bullshit call or something like that, I get really bummed until the next weeks’ game.

Surprisingly I wasn’t that upset after the Dez catch/non-catch playoff game. There were two or three other problems in that game I was much more upset over.

 

I haven't gotten upset at Dolphins losses in at least 2 years

 

I get upset about Texans losses all the time no matter what

 

I honestly don't get too upset about Patriots losses because I know how privileged I am. I know the Giants/Giants/Eagles deserved to win those Bowls. Where I let sports get to me is when I'm debating someone and I let myself get actually bothered because someone thinks a different way than me. That shit I gotta knock off.

Thankful for that Lions desensitization. When the they lose it’s either expected or an absurd curiosity. Though when Big Papi walked off against the Tigers in the ALCS in 2013 I was pretty numb for awhile.

I'm kinda in disbelief that Carlos Hyde is, like, producing. Like he's getting snaps and gaining yards with them. I thought for sure he was gonna be like a RB3 or some shit.
