    Jags 5-0*** Prestigious

I would literally only trade Ramsey for an elite or close-to-elite QB

No team in their right mind would trade an elite QB for a cornerback.

Exactly! So the return we would get does not match Ramsey’s value imo

Even being the best cornerback in the league isn’t as valuable as a legit franchise quarterback though.

I think you're overrating his value if you think it's equal to the value of an elite QB.

    The rivalry is back on

Oh no, why did you go here? Losing Luck and maybe losing Ramsey both stink. One doesn’t have to be 20 times worse than the other. We can be sad together!

(But if they did, losing Luck for nothing is the one that’s worse :D)

Are we getting a legit franchise QB? No? Then don’t fucking trade Jalen

Literally nothing else at all is worth that player unless we are literally about to “Redskins RGIII trade” or “Saints Ricky Williams trade” fleece somebody

Two firsts than can be used to attempt to get a legit franchise QB and then a replacement at CB or LT (not sure how good y’all’s currently is) is worth it though.

I don’t think it’s equal but like... everything else is less.

My point is I am only trading Ramsey if I’m getting something even better. The only thing better, imo, is a quarterback who is good enough to lead a mediocre team.

If you just ranked players in the league strictly on talent and technique and ignored the importance of the position they play, Ramsey would be close to top 5. Arguably he IS top 5 in terms of, how much better he is than the next tier of CB

Sure, but you def know this isn't how trades work. You also know you can't keep a guy who is demanding a trade for years and have everything just be A-Ok. At some point, those negative feelings towards coaching/front office/management spread throughout the locker room. So you make the most of it and put yourself in as good of a position as possible to survive it. Or you fire your dumb ass shit coach and appease the star player haha

To be perfectly honest with you, I’d still rather keep Ramsey and see what we have in Foles and Minshew. Both QBs are a clear upgrade over Bortles, even if it’s unclear how much better

I am happy with our T position as well. Cam Robinson and Jawaan Taylor. This is the first time I’ve liked our starting offensive line since 2008.

This is your fandom speaking and not wanting what's best for Ramsey, the person. If he's truly unhappy with the situation and the Jags pull that, that's extremely shitty, like Brandon was saying with Minkah, if they don't want to be there, they shouldn't be forced into it, they should be able to leave.

And before you get to the "he signed a contract" part just remember that these players owe teams/owners nothing, they will cut you whenever they feel like, regardless of your contract.

It's totally plausible that a simple HC change will resolve all of this, but if the Jags have no plans to do so in the near future, don't string him along

Dude, those negative feelings toward the front office are already spread throughout the locker room. Did you not watch last season? At this point if Ramsey leaves other good players might follow him out the damn door. Marrone has already lost a good bit of the team’s trust so if you ask me we are already at that point where it’s time to fire him, especially if we continue to lose.

Of course it's time to fire Marrone, it was time to fire him when the Pats won that AFC Championship game lol. But they're clearly not gonna do that, so what's the other solution? Just keep everything as-is, lose more, fight more on the field, dropkick someone off the sideline? Like where are they to go that isn't firing marrone?

If they wanted to keep Ramsey anyway, they would. It’s sad but he’s not shaking them down. Coughlin/Marrone may well be privately ecstatic about this, it gives them an excuse to do it

Same thing with Minkah Fitzpatrick, it’s not like he’s pulling an “AB” he quietly went about his business. Hell, the Steelers may have been happy to give up AB even.

    Jags 5-0*** Prestigious

If Anthony Davis can be on the Pelicans for 7 years, its not unreasonable for me to want Ramsey for the full 5 and at least have a chance to turn this declining team culture around. The “they can cut you at any time” doesn’t apply to a player who is literally setting the standard of excellence for the rest of the team.

  22. Randall Mentzos

    Jags 5-0*** Prestigious

If he still wanted to leave after 5, I’d be sad but I wouldn’t blame him at all.

And that was the same thing, it was extremely shitty of the Pelicans to keep him around for so long when he clearly did not want to be there

I can’t believe the Jags didn’t fire Marrone after last season’s dumpster fire.

I also can’t believe the Jags didn’t fire Marrone after that embarrassing two-point conversion attempt.

Man I just don’t agree when you’re talking about rookie contracts. I think it’s fair and only helps the parity of the league, that the team that drafts you has the rights to the early portion of your career. Draft picks would have way less value and teams would have way less mobility to transform a team that isn’t competitive, if they didn’t guarantee you 4-5 years of that player. Every player has to put in their time before they have the options a vet has. That’s not a horrible thing imo

If you played well and kept a good attitude for your rookie deal then you have options.
