This. Especially as we've been adapting schemes to play more zone and off-coverage, they were still always all over man-press guys who got constantly burned for it.

 

And the offense has flipped roles...for a while our O-line was all 1st round picks...now its the skill positions are all 3rd rounders or higher...and the O-line has 3 undrafted guys starting.

Defense is basically all 1st and 2nd rounders, with only Hargrave (3rd) and Williams (6th) being the out men.

 

Butler should be fired then, and Tomlin's job in jeopardy.

 

The one year extension said a lot to me. What the criteria is for him to get another extension done, I’m not sure. But I think it’s basically, show us something in the next two years that say you should get more time here. They would never fire him because it’s not the “steeler way” but I could totally see them just choosing to walk after next year

I mean, if Rudolph stinks and they go 4-12 and Ben isn't looking the same then yea I'm sure they'd agree to go their separate ways but that's so unlikely.

 

Funny how we went from “Tomlin is criminally underrated for how he handled AB” to “Tomlin’s job should be in jeopardy” in the span of 1 week

 

Lol I stand by my take that Tomlin is an excellent people manager, but his gameplans and his "we are who we are" mentality will always hurt him.

 

Tomlin is a good coach and underrated. But he has underperformed as well. I think both can be true.
