Brees can use all his new free time to Focus on the Family

 

Not really sure if you're trying to take a shot at Brees with this one, but for someone that seems to care a great deal about character and morals in the NFL, he's a weird one for you to shit on.

 

Brees is a liar and is a bigot.

 

I don't know what the hell Focus on the Family is but I do know that Drew Brees isn't a shithead.

He's done more for his community and his state than just about anyone in NFL history.

If it's some Bible thumping, anti-gay movement, it's not surprising to see that kind of trash floating through Louisiana.

 

Brees is an idiot who says yes to becoming involved with literally every ad, movement, pyramid scheme, etc. It’s baffling he has no one in his ear telling him what to back off on. He made it worse on himself for not outright denouncing the org. But I don’t think there’s any evidence that supports him being a bigot. Still a terrible look and he sucks for it.

That said I dread the day when he retires and runs for mayor as a conservative and starts a career of really terrible politics

 

This is also the guy who had this to say of players kneeling during the national anthem:

“But if the protest becomes that we are going to sit down or kneel and not show respect to the United States of America and everything that it symbolizes, and everything that is stands for, and everything our country has been through to get to this point, I don't agree with that."

Like, I’m sorry I don’t buy this guy’s apology for appearing in a video for a program that has anti-LGBTQ views. Dude is a 40-year old grown ass adult who should have some form of knowledge and understanding of what it means to publicly appear for a program/entity/idea/whatever.

It just screams of “Well shit, I got caught and now I need to set the record straights.”

Here’s a thought: Just don’t do it in the first place, dumbass

It's a moronic decision on his part to be a part of that ad, but I truly don't believe he is a bigot in any way.

 

Brees is the typical “Can’t we all just get along” type of guy

 

Right now, Brees doesn't care about sexuality; just know how to wear a shirt untucked.

 

This is cherry-picking at its finest.

It's perfectly reasonable to call him a jackass for filming the ad. It's a bad look and an awful business decision, but his comments about the protests and Donald Trump were very fair.

Focus on the Family is reprehensible. Their support of gay conversion therapy is basically why anyone who isn’t an anti-LGBTQ right wing zealot knows who they are. Two seconds of googling and Drew Brees could have declined to support their Bring Your Bible to School Day bullshit (which, on its own, reeks of “public schools need prayer” bullshit). But Brees’ response to publicly aligning himself with the org was basically to yell “fake news” and “I’m not anti-LGBTQ and have never aligned myself with any LGBTQ organization”, which... isn’t true. He can be the nicest guy in the world to most people he meets, I don’t doubt or malign his off-the field contributions to his communities, but pardon me if I joke about the millionaire who recently partnered with one of the most heinous anti-LGBTQ organizations in the country getting injured.

 

Brees disagreed with Trump’s comments, then went out of his way to completely undermine what players were kneeing for because he seemed showing respect to the flag and America as more important than protesting police brutality.

How is this difficult to grasp?

 

I know you're saying that because you're living on a Peloton-worthy budget.
