It's pretty easy to move where you want in the draft as long as it's not like in the top 5

And really my whole point is that if the Jets were THAT desperate to get a talented player like Darius Leonard, moving a guy like Avery Williamson or other assets would help them get to that guy if they so desired. I'm not saying they can only use picks on draft day to move up for Leonard OR that them not being bad enough to get Darnold is the ONLY reason they couldn't get Leonard.

My whole point is that 95% of the time organizations are going to get exactly who they were eyeing because the difference isn't as marginal as it is to us

My main point was that there’s a lot of benefit to not having to give the draft pick haul to trade up for the key franchise piece, especially if the cost is only having to be a little worse in an already lost season. Having more opportunities for your GM to get those interesting prospects that are supposed to go in the first few rounds of the draft is always a good thing.

And it’s an added bonus if you can even do the opposite and trade down instead of trade up.
