I’m gonna disagree with you here. The Panthers did not need to blow it up. I still think we have a good roster. The defense has played very well in both games. We have plenty of weapons. The OL needs to be tweaked but it’s better than years past. The problem is QB and coach. And while those are the two hardest areas to find, it’ll help that there is a good team already in place.

 

Ultimately I get it. We have different perspectives on the issue, I didn’t really mean anything personal. Sorry if I came on strong.

 

But you’re saying the opposite of Matt and I agree with you. Panthers don’t need to be blown up. They need to keep their roster happy while they find new leadership. They have talent all over. It’s so obviously a too conservative coach with a washed up QB that’s killing the team.

When you only got a few leaks. Just plug em.

 

It could be an fun/interesting discussion to look around the league and pick teams you’d want to rebuild and which players you’d keep around. If I’m looking at the a Panthers, I don’t think they’re in need of a full rebuild because they have plenty of good/exciting young players, but they do need to make some big changes. I’d keep these players around:

Christian McCaffrey
D.J. Moore
Curtis Samuel
Taylor Motion
Trai Turner
Greg Little
Brian Burns
Luke Keuchly
Shaq Thompson
Donte Jackson

 

This is his third season. I'm talking about blowing it up this year for 2020 picks.

Hire a better coach and draft a QB in top 10 (because that where we’ll pick). It could obviously fail but look around the league. It’s not hard to pass the ball right now.

 

I think being a Lions fan and watching two all-time great skill position players retire in their primes rather than continue being Lions has desensitized me a bit, since they’d rather not play at all than play for the team I root for

 

Jalen gonna be the panthers new qb when they get Riley?

 

KK Short, Gerald McCoy, James Bradberry, Eric Reid all solid players too

 

I just think keeping your studs happy and picking 8th-11th > disrespecting your studs beyond repair and picking 2nd-3rd

You’ll come out with a better team with the former. If you need a QB, trade the fuck up.

 

The 2020 szn tank is going to be so incredible to watch, I imagine at least half the league will be trying to get that #1 spot

Moton isn't that good. Little is unknown but him not starting isn't a great sign. Take those two out and you're missing a QB, tackles, defensive line, and most of a secondary. That's a team in need of a rebuild. CMC and Moore can be top three in their position and it wouldn't mean the Panthers are good. See: Everyone agrees the Giants need to rebuild despite having Barkley, OBJ, and Engram.

 

I think the Panthers are going to need to find themselves a new HC and QB soon. They could stand to find themselves a strong X receiver as well. I think they need to fix that defense up, especially in the secondary and from a schematic standpoint. I’m not sure I agree with their switch to a 3-4 front.

I think you’re wrong about the secondary. Bradberry hasn’t been better than your boy Jackson too. The secondary has been the strongest part of our defense through two weeks. And the DL needs another outside rusher but having Short, McCoy, Burns is a solid start. Shaq and Luke holding down LB. the defense is fine.

You can nitpick at what upgrades the team needs. But you can do that to any roster. But I’m telling you, put in an above average QB and this team will be a playoff contender. Cam is well below average right now.
