Agreed; from what I understand he was fairly burnt out, so that break for baseball really helped recharge his energy and help him discover his love of basketball again

laimbeer was good and has actually done a lot to advance the WNBA as a coach/GM there

the pistons were a basketball team, in fact

lebron absolutely had the killer drive mentality that MJ did. look at the fucking bums he dragged to the finals before going to miami. it’s the entire reason his finals record is what it is. those teams would be in the lottery without him and they were in the finals lol. MJs equivalent early teams couldn’t get beyond the pistons. the pistons were better than the competition lebron had (making one of my other points for me!) but to say that lebron didn’t have drive while regularly being in the finals with some awful talent around him (worse than any of the support MJ had before his rings) is wild. not to mention the late-career drive we’ve seen from him against the warriors.

 

The Pistons made Jordan a better player and gave him a literal wall to smash through and get to the GOAT level he came to be at. Every story needs a villain, and the Pistons were that for Jordan.

Those Lebron Cavs teams were so much worse than any Bulls team Jordan had. It’s nothing short of a miracle he made it to the finals there.

 

If there’s one thing you learn from basketball docs it’s that no one shook each others hands or respected anyone but themselves, wow old skool basketball actually did rule
