I think its fair to assume they win 1999 as well; though Jordan needing to get to the basket more vs that Spurs team might have been interesting. But I think Jordan retired at exactly the right time. By his age 36 season, he'd be fading...maybe its not the Lakers without Phil Jackson taking over, but someone takes it over. I think its easy to forget, but that whole team is in their mid-30s come 1998.

 

Jordan vs Duncan in 99 would have been a fun finals.

If Jordan didn’t retire the first time they very easily could have won 8 straight titles. At the very least it could have been 5 Straight.

I don't think it'd be easy - the mental toll it would have taken would have been immense - if anything having those 18 MJ-less months probably helped the team regroup to win the next 3.
