Lakers are very susceptible to making big changes if things start out slow (which is to be expected with a new team anyway, but oh well). So a major coaching change, picking up Melo, trading Kuzma and picks for another big name etc., all moves that have a high chance of backfiring, are likely to rush things and make it all worse.
