Crazy for Obi

 

I gotta tell you, I really do not like Obi. I don’t see him being much of anything beyond an empty stats dude...if even that.

That said, I could see him being in the running for ROTY because of his advanced age, racking up empty numbers, and the lack of summer league / training camp really hurting the rest of the field who are more projects.

He’s the kinda guy you draft if you are a bad team in a bad market and you are a gm who wants something to show quickly so you don’t get fired. But if you are trying to build a long term, successful franchise, he isn’t a part of it.

If I'm the Cavs (and my hope as a Cavs fan) I definitely would strongly consider trading down in this draft.

 

Yep I feel the same. Put him on the Knicks and let him get 20 a night

 

I truly could see a Bucks announcing a small extension for Jrue when they can officially announce the trade

 

im also not high on obi, seems like the kind of player who would be fine as a late lotter pick maybe even right outside the lottery but he doesnt make sense so high up. him, avdija, and edwards are the high ranked guys in this draft that i am very unsure of. personally the guys im high on are okongwu, hayes, kira lewis,haliburton, jalen smith, and lamelo
could go either way on wiseman and cole anthony

 

i feel like that’s kind of the same for most of the lotto guys. i’m not high on obi either. there’s like two dudes i like in the entire lottery haha

 

I spent the morning watching some complete FSU games. I think I’m gonna buy up any remaining stock Vassel and Williams.

I’ll still probably favor Vassel by a hair, but I can see why someone might make a long shot bet on Williams and put him over Vassel.

More than anything, more people need to talk about Leonard Hamilton as a top tier college coach. And in the draft, I give an edge to guys who come from programs like FSU. You know those kids are coming in having been well coached to do the little things. Same goes for Nova.

 

If he’s there I’m thinking Detroit goes Williams.


Also, when do we start seeing Miami/Toronto making moves? It seems like Giannis is gonna sign the super max and those two teams (maybe Dallas too) were holding out hope.

 

All my college basketball knowledge comes from watching the tournament and that didn’t happen so I don’t know any of these guys

 

For the Hornets, I’m fine with any of the top 3 guys. Whoever we get from Ball, Wiseman, Edwards would be a good addition to the other young guys.

I don’t think we’ll trade down but if we do, Obi, Deni, Okongwu are my favorite from the next tier.

just fired up the trade machine to discover the Mavs have literally not a single player I would want in return

 

Plus we can use more of our MLE this way too

 

Prediction: whoever gets Payton Pritchard in the second is gonna be the big winner of the draft

 

I'm seeing Devin Vassell, Killian Hayes, Isaac Okoro, and Tyrese Maxey at 10. How should I feel about those things? And is Kira Lewis any good?

 

Killian Hayes is gonna be good imo.
