And you also HAVE to swing for the fences to make sure Giannis stays. I don’t think he was gonna be okay with just running it back with no changes.

 

Jrue is a great player, and draft picks are overrated. He’s the kind of player every team should want. Great pick up for the Bucks. People must of forgotten when he kicked Lillard’s ass up and down the floor 2 years ago in the playoffs.

 

I don't think having a poor draft history is a good reason to trade picks

That said, they were the right moves even if they overpaid a bit. It makes the Bucks better next year (barring injury since they have no depth). If this core doesn't work out, then it's a tough situation, but it's a risk worth taking

Bucks won, great moves that show they're all in to keep the once in a lifetime player they have. Its no question.

Bring in some more trades, Philly has to be doing something with how bad their situation is right now.

 

It's possible the Sixers don't make any major moves and wait until the deadline to see if their options open up a bit more

I think Richardson moves regardless though, I don't see any way he resigns in Philly

 

Bucks will be a fun team for sure. And I think they definitely got better. There’s no arguing that. And I don’t necessarily mind giving up a bunch of picks to get better. I’m just not fully convinced Jrue is the player to unload all of your assets on. Like, yeah he’s a great player. But at the same time it seems like they could have packaged a deal for someone a tier higher. Who knows though. Maybe Bucks tried to do that and they couldn’t find anything.

They’ve now gone all-in and this is it. They can add some pieces and shooters and whatever, but this is the team they’ve put everything into. Is it good enough to win titles? We’ll see.

 

Really want Brooklyn to pull off this harden thing and turn the top of the East into a bloodbath

trading those draft picks mean nothing to me if Giannis signs the max - which sounds like he's gonna do. Historically, picks 27-30 have had a negative value for contending teams. They are forced to pay a guaranteed salary for 3 seasons for pool of players with less than a 20% chance of breaking into a rotation of a good team. Picks 35-40 have represented greater value in the past for contending teams (see GS).

i feel like euro stashing was the fad for contenders to avoid paying low picks like 5-10 years ago. dunno why it's less common now. maybe more focus on the g league?
