Tbh after how well the bubble went the Nba at the very least has my benefit of the doubt on making a full season work.

Seen a few things that teams are gonna play in division more next season to avoid long travel and play other teams in conference at least once

  3. It can work if the season is shortened - asking 30 teams to play 82 games is a lot

there is zero chance of this happening

it would fundamentally fuck up the schedule for every season going forward. i’d imagine they have a shortened season and try to get “back on track” in 2021-22

The winter classic is played outdoors, maybe basketball would do the same thing?

NBA To Give Eight Weeks Notice Before Scheduled Start Of 20-21 Season

I have no idea what to expect. This is all so fucking weird. In a normal year, we'd be gearing up for opening night around this time of the year. As a huge NBA fan, the bubble didn't do much for me, personally. But honestly, with all the current events going on - pandemic/racial injustice/politics - it's just hard for me to get into anything right now. I commend the NBA for pulling off the impossible, but going forward...now what?

There's no way they implement an 82 game season...they also need to give teams ample amount of days off to prepare for COVID cases in between games, because it's going to happen. The NFL has had some outbreaks, but they've been lucky that they only play once a week, so rearranging schedules - while hectic - is doable. MLB, you could pull off days straight of double headers. Not ideal, but doable. NBA can't do that. I could see the a 2-3 games a week type of schedule from January to June or July and then try to get closer to a Christmas start for 21-22 and then maybe a back to normal start for 22-23.

Also, about fans, not sure about your local areas, but I know the Cavs' arena has been sending me surveys like, once a week, about how comfortable I'd feel returning to Rocket Field Mortgage House for events and what things I'd like to see put in place for healthy/safety. I could see them allowing 20% capacity or something and making sure everyone is spaced out...but I mean, we're going to be in the dead middle of flu/covid season, so this could all very well blow up into a catastrophe.

  8. It’s 100% irresponsible to have indoor events of any capacity during the winter months

I think 60ish games sounds like the best solution to next season and then get back on track for the following season assuming we'll have some kind of vaccine for Covid. Definitely can't have fans in the stadiums, but I'm sure they'll find a way. Excited for next season already. Wonder what the Lakers are gonna do in the offseason.
