I like the idea of guys getting paid, but there being a max amount that they count towards the cap.

For instance, let LeBron get paid $100 million a year, but have him count as a maximum of 30% of the team's cap or something like that.

Looking into it, they didn’t even offer the Max! They offered 5/160 Celtics offered 4/140. His Charlotte Max was 189 and his Supermax was 220.

The other crazy thing about Charlotte is that Kemba made like $12 million his last year with them. Even committing that little amount of money to a pretty great star, they still couldn't construct a competitive roster in the East, of all places.

 

I’m curious in 5 years if the math shows super maxes are good deals or bad. Giannis is obvious but idk...shit goes south quick it’s seems.

 

Kemba is one of the biggest reasons why I’m excited we advanced. Dude deserves this. Tatum and Brown are great and I love them, but Kemba has earned this run more.

 

As a Sixers fan, I'm also happy that Kemba advanced.

 

the kemba thing was a very weird both sides thing. it made sense not to give him the supermax or even really the max in theory, but i still don’t begrudge him for bailing and if charlotte wasn’t going to do it for him, they might as well not have a team lol

 

Them failing to put him anywhere near contention in the east is a travesty. It’s not hard honestly to be the 4-6 seed in the East. You gotta be really bad to not hit that year in and out.
