The Lakers will load manage their way to the playoffs and probably won't sniff a top 3 seed just because of that

there's no place like my room Supporter

I don't think draymond with just steph will be elite. His ability to facilitate without klay giving that extra space will be limited imo.

    Nope. Supporter

I have the Clippers as my 1 seed but I could also see that being the case with them as well

This lakers roster is so much better than last year but Lebron will still have to will the team a lot.

As they showed last year, Beverley, Lou Will and Harrell could still win them some games but I agree

Probably would put the Nuggets and Jazz in the top 2 seed spots because of that, although I still think the Clippers are the favorite in the West

Be kind; everyone is on their own journey.

Warriors roster as of right now:

    Backcourt: Curry and Russell
    Front Court: Green, Cauley-Stein, ?

Not sure they're even a guaranteed playoff team, if the can get there and get Klay back, he won't be himself...not a team i'd bet on.

No Lakers...bold move, and it wouldn't surprise me one bit. You banking on injuries? dysfunction?

    Trusted Supporter

"Meanwhile, the worst-rated defender over the past six seasons according to DRAYMOND is Rajon Rondo."

    That checks out.

EDIT: Having read through it and looked at the list, I think this is actually pretty useful. It doesn't account for steals or reward things like defensive gravity (Gobert's presence forcing teams to take more mid range jumpers rather than challenging him) but it certainly tracks with a lot of what the eye test would tell you regarding who is actually playing "defense" in the sense of staying in front of their man and being in the proper position to effectively contest shots.

Rondo, LaVine, Jabari, and Russ all get blown by or just straight up lose their man. And if they provide help, it is only perfunctory. And this system captures that and places them near the bottom.

DRAYMOND is definitely flawed but every metric is and it gives a good snapshot into general shot defense

Yeah, I think it's definitely flawed, but very useful. I can appreciate this kind of work. Some surprises here and there, but for the most part things seem to check out.
