Seeing a LOT of chatter from Cavs fans (and media) about trading for Westbrook with the explanation of stars won't sign in Cleveland so you must trade for one.

Westbrook is gonna to be 31 in November & is entering his 12th year in the league. He is obviously a stat stuffer like we've never seen but he couldn't win w/ some of the best players in the NBA. Why would he all of a sudden be able to win in CLE with...Kevin Love? And good lord, do not even get me started on his contract situation. Truly going to be atrocious. Going to be making nearly FIFTY MILLION per year when he's 34.

I actually like the Cavs rebuild thus far. I love Sexton. I think Garland can be a star. Cedi will continue to develop. They'll have another top 10 pick next summer & a ton of financial flexibility. Don't throw that all away for Westbrook who will get you 6th seed in the East, a 1st round exit and a major headache.

 

Agreed. That’d be an awful idea. If anything I thought we could try to trade Love to Thunder.

I wouldn't put anything past Dan Gilbert. He's hellbent on getting a superstar regardless if it turns into wins or not and is probably smart enough to know they won't sign here willingly. I'm certain Westbrook would put fans in the seats (moreso than what we have now)...but it's just an awful idea.

 

I think OKC is in clear rebuild mode now and it'd make no sense at all for them to go after Love.

 

Also we are already in the luxury tax and have a lot of shitty contracts. In order to even get Russ we’d have to trade those big contracts to make the money match but then we’d be trading our veterans to even compete anyways. I don’t think it’s possible

 

Westbrook contract is bad, Thunder really kept the wrong guy. Can’t believe a franchise blew it like that.
