Let’s go Vegas. Vegas eliminating the Sharks and then winning a cup before they do would sustain me for the rest of the summer.
Tbh it's easy to say teams like FLA, MIN, and CBJ fucked up with hindsight, but Smith was coming off a terrible year and had a huge cap hit, Marchessault broke out at 26, which statistically speaking is more likely to be an aberration than the beginning of a new trend, Haula's previous career high was 34 points, and Karlsson, for as legitimately talented as he is, is never gonna score 40+ again in his life - the dude shot at like 23% this season. A few teams just prioritized their dmen over their surplus forwards and it created a perfect storm, fucking somehow, for Vegas. Nobody could've predicted basically their entire top 6 having career years all at the same time.
Tampa matches up with them the best but there's no way I can confidently say anyone is going to beat them in a 7 game series
Knights match up well with both They could score 10 on the bolts per game and sweep them, or if could be a close and contested series
Is MAF’s career somehow underrated? Maybe I’m wrong but I feel like people haven’t praised him too much throughout his career.
Doesn't matter who they play they have a legit shot at winning it all. What a cinderella story. Expansion schmxpansion
I know what you're saying. He's just such a low key guy. After this year he is a first ballot hall of famer IMO. As a Wings fan he's the only player on the Pens I couldn't find a reason to dislike back when both teams were going at it.
Oh I totally agree that no one could have banked on Karlsson and Haula breaking out, but I maintain that the Florida trade was indefensible, and my feelings on Colin Miller are well established. A small handful of GMs were really dumb about the expansion draft, and just so happens they gave up some of the biggest pieces. C’est la vie
need to see that one pittsburgh writer who will have a hot take of they should have traded murray instead
The Anaheim situation is one of the more underrated blunders. They gave Kevin Bieksa a NMC and had to leave Vatanen/Manson exposed, then they ended up Vatanen a few months later anyway.
