Do we even have any Habs fans here? Or have we ever? Maybe that’s why this thread is more civil than most.
I knew Subban was going to score after hearing all those boos. The guy feeds off it for sure. Our fans need to STFU.
I mean, he's clearly not around anymore since Habs fans only watch hockey when they're winning. They're either the best team ever or they suck, there's no in between.
I live among Habs fans and everyone around here is now rooting for the Jets because it's a canadian team or the Pens because they always win.
Have never encountered a Habs fan in real life. However, I live in full-time Blackhawks territory right now and this fall I'm moving to the home of the Blues so I am used to being surrounded by fans of divisional rivals.
Still trying to figure out what he actually meant by this. I mean I agree with the sentiment for numerous reasons, but I want to know why Backstrom said it. I know he said "because they lost" but I ain't buying it haha.
Yeah, clearly had something else on his mind. I didn't notice anything during the end of the game though... maybe just frustration at the suspension and the way they played and screamed that? Hard to say. But I will agree with pretty much all the gripes about the NHL. The best sport has the worst league running it.
I imagine the fact that they have to constantly face the Penguins in the post season probably has some serious frustrations. also caps can never get lucky against Pens.
Oh yeah, I thought of that too. The way they do the playoff seeding they always meet each other far too early in the playoffs. But then again... I feel like no matter how it's seeded the best team will win.
I'm still baffled with how well that lineup move (Fiala out, Hartnell in) worked last night. On paper that looked crazy, but I won't question Lavy again. Really changed the whole complexion of the game and Nashville dictated the slower pace of play nearly all night. Seems like if you slow Winnipeg down they don't have other ways of beating you. Or at least not in that game.
Nashville played the 1-3-1 trap all night. Not much we could do. It definitely slowed us down and I think we'll see that for the next 3 games. It's really going to be interesting to see how the Jets counter this. What a chess match.
Yeah the 1-3-1 has helped us a lot in low-scoring games before (see also: against the Hawks in round 1 last year). Not sure it's an every-game strategy, but after the breakneck pace of the Games 2+3 and with the Jets home crowd being what it is, it was a brilliant move by Lavi. Bravo.
I was never sold on the 1-3-1 trap either, but it almost got the Sens to the cup final last year...haha
