I think I might be okay with the hawks taking Penny. Sure there might have been better options on the board and it was a slight reach. Also hard to tell if he’s actually good because if the conference he played in, but he’s got good size and speed for his size. And some hands. Somebody has to help Wilson out.
Hey, I think we can all, well almost all, take solace in the fact that our teams did better than the Seahawks
Well now that I've had approximately 9 hours to stew over the trainwreck that is the Buffalo Bills, I think this sums up how this selection makes me feel.
Let’s remember all the joking on them picking Bruce Irvin. Who knows? It could somehow work. I heard some reports that the Browns were actually thinking of grabbing Penny at 33 or 35, so you never know where people really had him on their draft boards.
Now that the Jets have Sam Darnold, I can officially root against Josh Rosen. His post draft interview on NFL Network was embarrassing. Those NFC West defenses are going to humble him.
Penny was rated 38th overall on MM’s draft board. Yeah it was a reach and there were better RBs on the board but how is it one of the biggest reaches ever? They took him at 27. That’s only 11 spots off.
Penny had the most rushing yards in college football last year, is similar size as Lynch and appears to have decent hands. Let’s see how it plays out. Just hard to tell if he’s actually good because of the conference he played in.
He's the 7th best RB in the class maybe. 5th at best. If you want Lynch again, Guice is the closest to Lynch since Lynch haha.
He's such a bad blocker he might as well be a ghost, no idea how they use him on 3rd and longs but they have like 10rbs cause they think that's the problem....
Penny is not an every down player. He cannot pass protect right now and he is not a good receiver. Guice, Jones, Michel, Chubb, and Johnson are better prospects to me. I even have a few other backs over Penny as well. That position is tremendously devalued in the first round.
It feels like such a Seahawks "we're smarter than everyone else" thing to do, I hope not for Russell wilsons sake
It's funny for me reading other Ravens fans angry rants about the team not taking a WR. Clearly they didn't see any WR worth the #16 pick when they signed 3 guys (Crabtree, Brown, Snead) already this off-season. The team has pretty much nothing at TE, and will likely add another TE in the mid rounds.
