The only way the Jets take him is if we sign Kirk Cousins (which is almost certainly not going to happen). Best defensive player in the draft slipping like that would be reminiscent of Leonard Williams in 2015. We've seen it happen before...
He's an incredibly athletic space eater...that is the best short summary I can give of him. I like him a lot more than I liked Danny Shelton coming out. His issues are all correctable under the right coaching and if he gets that, I think he can be an elite run stuffer.
Apparently the Eagles are interested in Justin Reid out of Stanford. He's a safety I don't know about, is he good ?
I think he’s awesome. He looks like a guy that can play either safety spot. From what I’ve seen he has good man cover skills too. He’s on my wishlist for the Panthers first pick.
Since the Jets moved up to 3, I've been more focused on the quarterbacks lately. Josh Allen throws the 5, 10, and 15 yard out better than any QB prospect since Jay Cutler. Good coaches can work with him and the stuff that he does well. His completion percentage was impacted by pressure, drops, and passes that were thrown away. Obviously, he makes some bad throws occasionally but they rarely lead to turnovers. In the right spot, he will thrive. I'm more confident saying that now. I wouldn't take him over Sam Darnold or Josh Rosen, but he's my #3 now.
I agree that he needs the right spot to be good. Jets or Denver should be where he goes. Giants would be reaching and the Browns wouldn't be a good fit.
I'm so torn I am a big Tannehill fan, and I really don't want to trade what it would cost to move up, but I like Mayfield a lot
He's 6'5", throws a deep ball, and could be a middle-of-the-pack QB his entire career. He's MEANT for the AFC North.
(Response to night channels post) I feel like they're gonna take mayfield because maybe they can't wait to develop someone like Allen but maybe I'm totally wrong who the hell knows anything
I was very dismissive of him in the early offseason because he declined so much statistically in 2017. I hate boxscore scouting, but I had to resort to it at times because I missed so much live college football this season. Now that I've had some time to go back and look at his season, Wyoming has a terrible roster offensively. No running game, slow and undersized receivers, and the pass protection is some of the worst I've seen. Losing Brian Hill killed their offensive balance. They averaged less than 2.5 YPC in a lot of games. Awful. When he had some help, he was an ascending player - that's where the hype came from. Some of the things that he did in 2017 (especially against Iowa, who is miles ahead of Wyoming) with that supporting cast is very impressive.
That narrative is stale to me. Mike Maccagnan has more time than the media lets on. He's been gearing up for this since he got to New York. He inherited a franchise in disarray and had to tear it down to build it up. This trade buys him time, it doesn't expedite it. I don't think Allen is as much of a project as he's been made out to be. He was just placed in a lot of unfavorable situations in 2017. His footwork is solid when the pocket is clean. It was just rarely that way for him. He's not scared back there.
Oh yeah, he has all the right tools. I was kind of a fan of his until the hype got out of control. I'm very interested in seeing what he develops, I just also wish people would settle down. Cause he's still very raw. He's not worthy of even considering over Rosen and Darnold imo.
Idk, Maybe he did good in the teams private interviews but something about his make up makes me think he's not totally ready
